Fairly stock Mtm2 at 640 x 480 mode, set to direct3d. With dgvoodoo 2.54 set to upscale to 1080 for direct3d. I never did get 3dfx version to work or the community patch version.OG_RuDeE wrote:Congrats! What settings did you end up landing on?

Other than my mouse showing up. That's minor. It's working great now.Fila wrote:Wonder if we're missing something. I'm running Win11 too and have no problem running dgvoodoo 254.

Re: MTM2 Community Patch #2 - Bear Foot Unchained + HD Truck
Ok Got it.
First, had to dump community patch
Then, had to use dgvoodoo 254, the directX one. The 3dfx didn't work.
With that combo and no compatibility set, it started working, full screen, with no flickering menu.
Finally!

Yeah I still get message saying unable to switch to full screen mode. Using 1024 x 768 3dfx with latest dgvoodoo and the 2.54 version. Neither worked

Re: MTM2 Community Patch #2 - Bear Foot Unchained + HD Truck
Did you try running in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2? That usually fixes full screen errors for me. Then I can go back to turning compatibility off again once full screen works once.

Is there a trick to getting it to launch?
I just get this error

I have both but can't part with them. MTM1 was my first PC game ever. I even printed out the truck spec sheets from the help files and stapled them to my wall.Kmaster wrote:oh yes. If anybody is selling a big box of MTM1-2 w/ international delivery... hit me up.

Re: PlayStation controller?
Never seen this thread before.
First, PlayStation controllers use directinput so they'll just work. Don't use the x360 wrapper.
X360 controllers should just work, no need for wrappers.
If your controller is really weird, add mtm2 as a non steam game and use steam to manage it instead.

Re: Lag from high quality textures
It would be a complete engine re-write to convert to dx11. Everything would have to be started from scratch. It's not really possible.
I can't even find it, but it would be fun to change the gravity constant in the game.

Re: Lag from high quality textures
Yes that is the reason. The game engine does not work well with 256x256 files. It's a limitation of the graphics engine from that time and there is simply no way around it. The only way to fix this is by upgrading the game to use DirectX9/OpenGL (at a minimum) on it's own (not through a wrapper ...

It's been a really really long time, but I do miss rumbling. And a bit of racing. If you guys remember Electric Bug. He fixed up my old controller I used to use all those years ago. I've taken it for the odd spin in MTM2 but haven't had anyone to play with.

Not much luck. Had to install 2017 build tools, which community allows you do add old build tools. But can't build. Need to fiddle more to actually have something to ask for help withFila wrote:I've never tried VS2019 because I haven't worked on it since 2019 was released but I hope it's fine...

Considering how bad the code is... not great :D
Also I had no idea what I was doing when I started this either so the changes I made are very noob like. lol
What email are you using? I have it uploaded on gitlab.
My gitlab profile is https://gitlab.com/trevord2 if that helps.

Not sure, when I tried it on 7 it worked, after a lot of fiddling.
I think you need dgvoodoo, or run in software mode.
Both MTM1 and MTM2 have issues above 30fps.
