This is mostly for you, Air Wipeout.

The nfo file stores information that is used by binedit. It's not good for anything except for binedit. It is not a bin. Yes, it's a text file and you could edit it, but the results, I'm afraid, would probably not be good. Anyway, here's a sample nfo file for a more complex bin.

Most of that information is about stored face and vertex groups.

Yeh i'm still wondering what it is meant to do.Perhaps OP was intending to have an import feature that imported these files into BINEdit.There alot smaller than BIN file sizes are (especially BIG ones like my CItyNite backdrop V2 which is 16 KB).I've known this for quite a while & still dont know what the point of them is (do you know what there meant to do Phineus

Sure.

The .info file stores information that is used by binedit

If you store a group of faces or a group of verticies, then save, Binedit will store that information in the .info file. That way if you continue working at a later time, you don't have to re-define the groups.

So, in the above example, for example, the numbers under each name correspond to the face or vertex numbers. Like this:

For "Rear_window", the first number tells how many faces are stored as a group (12) and the remaining twelve numbers are the actual faces that make up the group (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42). The name "rear_window" is what I called it when I saved the group. You can call it whatever you like.

Most of my groups in this case were face groups. However, the one called "body" is for the verticies. I saved that so I could adjust it in relation to the frame.

The point here tho is that it's just informtion, it's not a bin (as AW) was thinking. The .info file gets loaded automatically when you load the bin.

I still wish that there was a way to disable them though.They can really clog up your MODELS directory if your someone like me that rarely cleans up the directories

Hey Hacman there are 2 things you can do. First, you can delete them. It wont effect a model thats already done, they are only used by Binedit not MTM, but if you try & edit it again in the future then you just need to regroup the faces.
Second, zip them all up. That way you can toss them on a disk & grab them as you need them.
