I need help with this, I understand that I need to import the smf into zmod and then export it, but everytime when imported I see nothing, and everything time I export it and try to use it in traxx there is nothing. What might I be doing wrong.

If it helps i'm using evo2 .smf's.

Any time I do it, I just let zmod use its default settings.

How big is the bin? Could it be it exceeds traxx's vert limit of 1024 and so it just "looks" like it's not there? Have you tried to open it in binedit? Resetting the face types is usually a good idea anyway.

How do I reset the face types? Thats probably the problem.

The only thing i see when I import and export is a single verticie. Would I have to import, change face types and then export?

resetting the face type is done in binedit by hitting 'ctrl+A' to select all the faces then go to the groups menu and select group face type then select the proper face type from the menu, ie shiney or normal.... zmod exports everything with transparent faces.


do you get any errors when importing into zmod?

What model are you converting? As far as I know, this is the only conversion tutorial

I never look at it in zmod. If the model has parts, you have to export them one at a time. What I've done is put all the models I want to convert in one place, then just import and immediately export. I don't do anything. I delete the tga files if zmod creates any. Then I open in binedit and merge close verts and set the face types there.

I think it's time for me to retire... and go find a nice quiet spot out in the middle of nowhere, somewhere perhaps in the woods to kick back in my rocking chair and just throw rocks at the squirrels all day...

Found it. At first it didn't work I couldn't even select all faces. I went back and instead when it says when i import evo1 or evo2 I hit evo1 and it worked. Are all models evo1 format or something? Now I actually see it in binedit and can work with it. Thanks.

a lot of the models in evo2 are leftovers that were used in evo1 so they use the evo1 smf format. The quickest way to tell the difference is that all evo2 format smf's use tif art files as opposed to the act/raw evo1 uses.
