Good question. The way to tell is too highlight one face on the hood. Make it a big part. Then goto Faces>Properties and you'll see the face outlined on the texture. That is where it's mapped. You can use this technique to locate any part of the bin. For carolina crusher, you see that little red square underneath the tailgate? Well, I think, if I remember correctly, that's the hood. Not the best surface for repainting. But double check that to be sure. You might like to create a 64x64 texture and map the hood to it. Caution: don't overload your truck with too many 256x256 textures.

I tried mapping a texture onto the hood, and it worked perfectly, except for that the hood was black and white instead of the colors it was supposed to be. I saved a pallette for the texture and everything, but it came out wrong. Also, MDMREs Bin Texture replacer won't support the .bin because it is too big. Is there an alternate program or something I can use? Help Image

Comes out wrong in the game or in binedit? Make sure you use a "unique" file name for your act and raw.

Take a look at Burn's texture replacer notes. You'll find it here.

The texture comes out wrong in Binedit. I didn't test it in the game. I'll try Burns technique. Is it possible to do it without a hex editor?

Yes i've converted some NFS cars to MTM2
(go to my web page then click on HAC-MAN's BETAS to see them)
and i've been getting the exact problem so i had to use a HEX editor and yes it is possible to use a HEX editor. I think it has something to do with limits of faces and vertices on the model that are very close to the limit i dunno?
