Once upon a time I invented the clear button because I really didn't like my name and pass being removed when I clicked the reset button. The clear button would erase the textarea but leave the other info intact. I thought it was a clever plan.

Alas, it was not to be for along came a few townfolk who couldn't resist the clear button's attraction and, much to their chagrin, clicked it in spite of their desire to post thought provoking and meaningful messages.

Ever the one to please, I took up the challenge and hope I've come up with a solution. To this end, please note the following changes.

The reset button is no more

The clear button has been relocated to the right hand side (out of harm's way?)

There is a new preview button occupying the clear button's former spot

We can only hope this will rid us of the plague the clear box button has visited upon us and that we'll hear no more of it from this day forward.

Thank you for your patience :P

P.S. For those of you who need it spelled out more plainly, to post a message use the middle button.

LOL funny stuff. The middle button, huh? Hmmm...just like before, correct? LOL trust me Phin, some unsuspecting user will see that "Clear" button, and without having the benefit of all this great info...they'll say to themselves, "Hmmm, I wonder what THIS button does?" and poof! No more post lol. I will say I like the "Preview" button idea. You know, I actually thought to inquire about that once, but then decided not to. Figured you'd respond with your usual line: "Buzz off, Copey. I don't have time for your silly suggestions, so leave me alone...go write a track review or something." LOL

> some unsuspecting user will

There's nothing for it; it can't be helped.

> I like the "Preview" button idea.

Took me a while to figure out. Several bbs's reload the page, but I like the quick pop up. What gets me is I'm starting to figure this stuff out on my own. Who'd've thunk it, eh?

> You know, I actually thought to inquire about that once

Me too but I didn't know who to ask.

> Figured you'd respond ...

Yak yak yak, buzz off, Copey. I don't have time for your silly suggestions, so leave me alone...go write a track review or something.

Translation: What you see is not quite what you get

I like the preview button except for one thing (if I may be nit-picky). The point of a preview button is to see what your post will look like in its final form, right? So why does the preview use Times New Roman text, and the final post uses Arial? Text smileys don't appear to be converted into graphics on the preview either. Hmm... ;o)

Who's Arial?

> Text smileys don't appear to be converted into

On the contrary, they're converted even if you check the don't use 'em box.

I thought the preview item was much more useful compared to the clear button. Whenever I want to clear message text only, I just highlight the text and hit control-X, regardless of which forum I'm in.

The preview button is useful for making sure image links work properly.

Well, I'm not going to put it on your desktop... you'd keep mistaking it for the recycle bin.
