Hey guys, I really need your help, I screwed up my WINXP boot sector and I need to use the bootfix utility. Since my WINXP cd is OEM, I can't launch the recovery console from the windows setup. I got an ISO file that comes with the recovery console. But since I can't use my cd writer to burn the ISO file to a CD, I need to use my usb flash drive to boot this ISO.

The problem is.. every ISO usb loader program that I have tried is a completely useless piece of crap...

- I tried "MultiBootISO", but it would only load a bunch of linux distros and some other useless stuff. It didn't want to load my recovery console ISO.

- Tried USBNetbootin... didn't work. It just says "Automatic boot in 10 seconds" or somethin like that, but If i press "enter" the timer would reset! And if I wait the timer to count down... it would reset too!

- Tried WinToFlash... and it almost crashes my computer. And it didn't supported ISO files... only CDS

- Tried flashnul... it just wrote some random unreadable stuff on my USB

- Tried Disk Imager... only supports IMG files

I remeber I had a program called "boot my iso" that worked like a charm but I can't find it on the net, dunno why. Right now I'm installin the HP drive key utility. Almost 40mb... I bet it will not work. Any ideas?

floppydrives win again.

Just get Hirens boot CD, start up mini XP, and run fixmbr

You can burn a CD using any Linux live distro, as I recall, Knoppix had a version that allowed you to actually remove the liveCD for the burning process

Or just download a DOS boot disk to your USB.
