I was just wondering if you can do anything to enable your truck to faster than 80 m.p.h.? Also my four year old plays the game alot and I use the ctrl key for acceleration,I noticed that if you use the GOLD cheat you hit ctrl plus another letter to enable the cheat, should I change the acceleration key to do this? Finally I know that there are nascar truck model but has anyone tried to make the truck from the nascar car instead of truck bodies?

Well, o.k. here we go.
Keyboard: Use arrows
the GOLD mode thing you are talking about is ctrl+v
Nascar Cars: Not sure, but I believe it is possible

>>I was just wondering if you can do anything to enable your truck to go faster than 80 m.p.h.?

You mean besides always making sure you're going downhill? hehe. Seriously, though. In the garage, you can set the gears to high/2000. Also, medium or shallow tires (but you'll lose some grip). And in Driver Checkin, you can use intermediate or professional driving mode (tho they can take getting used to...but once you do, you'll never go back).

I think the best way is to use the pro mode. But if you're not doing that yet, you might want to keep your gears down until you get used to the feel of the way the pro setting handles. Then increase the gears as you get better. Still, I think low/pro is faster than high/rookie. But it's been a long time since I checked it out.

Driving school tracks for wannabe pro drivers

Alpine's Crazy by Alpine (careful to get the name right)
Bankrole by Behihm
Daytona Speedway or Daytona SE by Malibu350
Mesa Verde and/or OLD Forest Ridge by Old NickatNite

That's just a few suggestions. The idea is to find something with wide lanes and not too much opportunity to crash (without being boring). Most of the straight-a-way tracks would be good too.

With a little practice, you'll be able to hit 110 easily.

>>Also my four year old plays the game alot and I use the ctrl key for acceleration

I think the game defaults to the arrow keys. I found it's usually best to use those. To each their own tho. The bottom line is whatever you feel comfortable using. If you can afford it, get a joystick or wheel. You won't believe the difference.

>>I noticed that if you use the GOLD cheat you hit ctrl plus another letter to enable the cheat, should I change the acceleration key to do this?

Like above, it's whatever you're most comfortable using. However, I don't think it's a good idea to configure the keyboard controls so they use the same key combos as gold mode. Rule of thumb: avoid conflicts at every opportunity.

>>Finally I know that there are nascar truck model but has anyone tried to make the truck from the nascar car instead of truck bodies?

You must be referring to this: Crazy YM's Nascar (truck) Lot. In most cases, cars don't work as well as trucks in the game. However, there have been a few successes. Check out Jan-N-Jim's MTM Truckstop to see some of the best work (non nascar). Also, you can browse around at Beek's trucklot to see what you can see. But don't despair if you can't find nascar cars. You can always design and build your own.

To go beyond 80 mph you need to set the skill level at intermediate or pro, the rookie setting is limited to 80 mph but I recommend rookie for the 4 year old as they are much easier to handle, also if you use the manual tranny the trucks will accelerate quicker than auto, it takes getting used to but once you do you'll be flyin.

I use the arrow keys for turning, acceleration and braking as far as shifting I use the right shift key for up shift and the right ctrl key for down shifting... I have no problems using gold mode with that set up..
PC is right, to enable gold mode just type g-o-l-d then hit the v key to change views and the + & - keys to zoom in and out arrow keys to rotate... gold mode is not really a cheat so to speak its more just for fun or taking screen shots, trucks don't go any faster or handle better using it.

The complete run down on the GOLD mode is here

Nascar Trucks?
I don't know if anyone has made one with a car body yet but is is very doable. the closest I've seen was one Nick made, it comes with his Onan Daytonan track.. its a lowered craftsman nascar style truck with slicks...
you can find the track here
