No need to change a thing mum, I just wanted to make it clear that if in fact you did make any changes to help the lag problem that it was texture related not vertex. I run on a fairly weak system and the fr's are very tolerable imo.

btw, congratz on the tourney win mum :o)

Hey mum, please check your download. There is something extremely wrong with the terrain. It looks like you randomized the terrain, or something. Let me know and I'll delete this for a reupload. I hope you have an old beta copy still available so the restore will be easy.

delete it asap pls, i will take a look at it. Still have the txx file so it won't be a problem i guess...

edit... txx file is all wrong too...... i'm toast here. Have no idea what might have happened.... I just changed the bitmap image and uploaded it to mtmg. Now it seems all the altitudes are changed [uhoh] [uhoh] [uhoh]

Just a note. I saved the last beta and the new messed up one. If you have any trouble, I hope to be able to fix it without too much hassle. Let us know how you make out.

I found the last beta myself. Still was on my webspace. The only thing is that that one still has the old bitmap image.
But in order to put a new bitmap image in, i need the txx file, which i can't use no longer because it looks the same as the podfile i uploaded.

Now i can turn that beta pod back into a txx file. Malibu explained me about a year ago how to do that in traxx forum http://forum.mtm2.com/viewtopic.php?t=1221) . But you also said this : "Most models will either be sunk into or floating above the terrain and will need to be reset."
If there is no other way i must do it like that, but it's gonna cost me a few days i guess.

mum, if you have podview just use it to open the last good beta you have and find/extract the raw file shown below, extract that then open it up with txraw and paste it back into traxx.. that will restore the terrain but you'll probably need to reset the height on all the models :(

Image

podview 22k

txraw 9k

ps, i am not phin :)

ok, i got it back to a txx file, and it looks pretty good.
After adding backdrop and music traxx gave no more errors, so i could drive on it.

Now i have 3 little problems
1. some models are a bit sunk. No biggy
2. the unvisible ramp at start straight seems to be gone. I think i'll just have to make a new one and that should be it
3. when i drive downhill under those covered bridges i bump into something. I can't see anything in traxx tho. I've pushed to wire frame button so i could see things more clearly, but traxx shows nothing there. Now that could be a bigger problem.
I'll continue tomorrow if i can find the time. Calling it a night for now...

What I did when this happened on rock ridge I just followed the road in traxx selecting each model one by one with the mouse, If it were a tree or something where location was not that critical I just dragged it a little with the mouse which allowed traxx to snap the model back to the proper height. If it were a model where location/position was important like a bridge or fence section I selected it with the mouse being carefull not to move it then hit 's' then 'x' to reset the height without disturbing it's position.

I hope that helps (and isn't way too obvious)

Method one
 • Open traxx
 • View pod file with beta version
 • copy terrain as bitmap
 • close beta version
 • open txx of new one that's messed up
 • paste terrain as bitmap
 • save txx
 • write pod file
 • zip it up
 • release
 • general fanfare

Method two
 • Extract all files of beta version
 • Extract all files of new one that's messed up
 • Drag and drop all folders into podtool
 • save new pod
 • zip it up
 • release
 • general fanfare

Method three
 • Download this fixed version : Ouarzazate.zip
 • try it out
 • zip it up
 • release
 • general fanfare

I don't think you have to clone anything

I know I wouldn't.

It was just the terrain bitmap that needed updating in this case was my thinking.

Having re-read your post again, I think the last significant sentence threw me. You won't need to reset models unless the terrain had changed. I assume it didn't.

> ps, i am not phin

Not yet, you're not. Just wait 'til I release your next track lol

Man, u guys are awesome.
I dunnow how you've done it Phin, but i'm very thankfull.
I don't understand what went wrong, and i sure as hell don't know how you fixed it. The thing i don't understand is that even the .txx file is unuseable.
Just send the bill to Belgium, i'll make sure u get payed [;)]

Now i think i've forgotten one thing on that track. And after what you've done it should be there. A hughe MTMG sign....
However i can't place that in, because i just don't have the txx file no more (the unuseable yes, but that one won't help me at all).

I tried the track this time before i decided to upload it. And thank god, it works... So i'm going to up it now.

mum, the terrain is controlled by a file. I just switched the good file from the beta over the bad file from the wonky final track. That's all there was to it. As for your txx, it's still good but needs to have the terrain file switched... like Mal or I have explained above. But no matter now that you're happy with what you have. If you need it fixed for some reason, make a copy of it and play around with the notes above and/or send it to me and I can 'probably fix it'. As for what happened, you some how managed to hit this

I don't know who what where when how or why but that's what happened. For future reference, don't do it again after your track is finished, lol.

LOL @ Scrooch

idd Phin, that must've happened.

I was reading up in the 'hidden airbase' thread and read about positioning of the sun. I went there to look at what was possible and must've accidently hit the random terrain button
