I can repaint trucks and all that but making trucks with binedit has been a foregin language for me. can anyone help me even a lil to get started? i dont want to do anything fancy just a truck, chassis, and tires. i would really appreciate it. if it is too hard to explain on a forum you can IM me at swimminballer20.

Going from a repaint to a scratch built is a big step, especially when you're still having trouble with binedit. Have you thought to try and build a truck from parts?

There are two things I can think of right now. If the haystack pyramid was tough, then maybe this will be a bit clearer.

http://binedit.info/

But please understand. You have to get a grip of the x,y,z coordinate stuff if you want to work from scratch. There is no way around it.

Secondly, get a body from a scrapyard (eg http://legwon.biz/mtm2/ ) and add a wing to it, or a frame, or something like that. Figure out what you need to do to move things where you want them. It isn't hard but takes some getting used to. Once you have that down pat, and you can do it with confidence, maybe you'll be ready to tackle the haystack again.

I have been to scrap yards and seen many different parts but what parts are essential to have the truck run? I know a body, tires, and chassis. But do you need an engine, fuel tank, shock absorbers, radiators, and other stuff like that?

engines, fuel tanks, shock absorbers, radiators, etc are all just part of the body model, not essential items.

The only models required are a body, tires and axles (the chassis is part of the body model). The models can be anything, as long as they don't have too many vertices/polygons.

You can make the models using just one tiny polygon and the truck will still run. The rest are just cosmetic.

This is an example of a working truck with a one polygon body model:

The box has four corners, right? So, press the tab key until the black lines are on one of the corners and note the vertex number in the status bar (bottom right). Do that for each corner. Then, on the menu goto face > add and then type in the vertex numbers (one number for each corner in each of the four boxes in the add face box). Make sure you add them in a clockwise direction. Then just map the face to the texture you want. The link we gave you the other day explains it all in more detail.

i have made the truck! I tested it out and it worked so i decided to paint it. Painted it all but then when i went to use i in the game almost everything that i had painted black became see-through. Why is that?

Load your truck into Binedit, open the FACE menu and click on SELECT ALL....

Now go to GROUPS/SET GROUP FACE TYPE, and choose "0x29 SHINY TEXTURE (MTM2)", then save the model.

thanks to everyone who helped me. I have completed a truck using binedit and scrap parts. Almost all of it came from bigdogges scrapyard. The only other thing i added was a front bumper guard by Inky i belive. I got that from another scrapyard. I would put a picture but i dont know how to.

I know it's your first,
but why not upload it.
One of the guys can put
a picture with it after.
You'll get GREAT feed-back
on your truck. Best tool for
growing as a maker.
