 Post subject: mapping a truck

I modified the body of a truck and i wanted to remap it to a new RAW file. but i dont know how to change what RAW file the body is mapped to. How do i do this? I have already created a new RAW file.

You are talking about two different things.

To <u>remap</u> a model means you want to use a specific part of a texture. It may be just slightly different than what it already is, or it can be a completely different part.

To <u>replace</u> the textures a model uses means you tell it to use one texture in place of another.

Replacing textures is easier than mapping. Since you say you have a new texture, then let's begin with replacing. To do that, the easiest way is to use binedit. Open your model in binedit, and on the texture menu select replace

Then just tell it what textures you want to use (the ones you made), click okay, and voila, it's like magic.

i wanted to remap it because the truck has the same texture or whatever it is for both sides of the truck. So if i put words on it on side would be correct and one would be backwards.

BinEdit v2 help pages (look down on the menu to where you see the items for the BinMapper). Binedit v2 has improved face groups too.

when i went to load the texture into Binedit it said unsupported texture size. The first web site said that there was no way to fix this. Is that true?

How big is the texture? It should be 256x256 pixels

that was the problem. I didnt know that was the size they had to be. It was 500 X 500.

Now i have the faces mapped but is there a way i can make the boundaries of each piece of the texture? I made a blank white texture and now i cant see where each model is suppose to go

ok just to make sure you shuld copy the mesh onto a texture, start painting the base coat of paint and then put face group by face group onto the texture?
