Post subject: Just curious - Anyone still drive GGR2?
PostPosted: Sun Apr 30, 2000 10:35 am
Hello Gents,

Way back in 98 I used to play MTM2 a lot, though not really at the zone. I created a track called Golden Gate Rally 2 and uploaded it to KC database.

I was wondering if anyone still drives that track? How has it stood the test of time compared to other tracks that have been created since? etc?

Appreciate any feedback..

Eric Hruby

Yep, it's still around and gets raced from time to time. Also, you'll be pleased to learn that it influenced the highly favored CNR 005 and CRN 008 by GyverX. There have been many imitators since then. GGR2 was ahead of its time. And it's good to hear from the man himself. Do you have plans to stick around a while?

I have to agree with Phineus here, I ran across this track well over a year ago and it was ahead of its time and still to this day is one of the best i've seen.

I stopped for a while but started playing MTM2 recently again. In the past we played GGR2 a lot with a couple of friends over a network and I was afraid I could not find a copy anymore. Great track. Great to play multiuser mode with a lot of people.

I started getting some tracks from the special sorts at KC's and saw that it was on the Old Track list I believe that I found this track. So I ran it and it was great!

I don't see it in the Old track list... but I've only been a MTM2 player since X-Mas '99, so I missed GGR2... sounds good, where can I get it?

This was one of the first add-on tracks I downloaded when I realised you could have add-ons. It was one of the tracks that inspired me to try making my own tracks, so thanks Roob for the motivation. It has stood the test of time really well in that it still outshines many of the newer add-on tracks. Hope to see you around.

zips and pods are not filetypes that get viruses.

sort:
50
oldest first
rallys only

you'll see: Golden Gate Rally 2

Hey ROOB! Alpine here :)
I remember contacting you to ask about revamping that GGR2 track and man, I had that baby retouched to the best I could get it. I even had a few custom transition textures so it would be perfecto. The terrain was just about as perfect as you could ever imagine, and I think the only part I didn't texture was underwater. Later, I sent it to GyverX for some additional work, and somewhere along the line, we goofed up and lost it. If you coulda seen that thing, you'd have literally gasped! Time and time again, I'd ask him for the track, and he'd find it laying around on a HD or something, but :( We never did get it posted anywhere. Sucks too, cuzz that was gonna be the Cops N Robbers version that would have topped just about anything created for that game :P
Well maybe... GyverX did do some awesome sewer work on that one he made ;)
Anyways - good ta see you found your way to this message board and hope ta catch up with you again sometime. Infact, you should send me an email or something and we can catch up on some old times or somethin. My info:

Hope ta hear from ya soon!

Pretty good map. I just downloaded it, played it, and found it most challenging.

I found you're secret.... Image

excellant track. only thing i don't like, is the fact there is no alcatraz! you should add alcatraz with a little opening so you can drive in and see the cells!!!!just a request/suggestion. anyways, good work. Image
