Lately I've been going through the track archives here at mtm2.com getting screen shots up, checking tracks for possible errors and resetting track types to their proper order. I lost count but I believe i've run close to 1500 tracks over the past few weeks and in the process i've run across a couple dozen gems that I missed when they were first released. Third days Extreme is one of those. It's not a highly polished zoon or finne race track, this ones a little rough around the terrain edges and by no means would it be considered seamless, but, as you can see by the picture below this guy did a heck of a job carving out a very interesting race track, a very challenging race track that keeps you on your toes from the get go and runs about 3½ to 4 minutes a lap.

A well deserved download if you like this sort of race track.

This one definitely has to be driven with attitude.

Driven with attitude and maybe 6 of 7 aspirin at the ready lol. It is indeed a very challenging track - one whereby you have to take the time and learn the little nuances of the terrain in order to run decent laps, let alone fast ones. I put this track in one of our Fast Lane gigs shortly after it was released and everyone hated it lol. But the fact is if you're not a highly skilled racer to begin with, chances are you won't like it. Even if you are, this track takes a little time to figure out, and even when you do it's still challenging, and some drivers, regardless of how "fast" they are, just don't mesh too well with tracks of this sort (wimps lol).

My first "Third Day" experience was back in May of '02 when I ran a rally he put out named "The Long Jump", which I loved. Like "Extreme" it's a grueling run, demanding high levels of focus and concentration at nearly every turn. As Mal said, don't expect to see highly polished work, but man 'o man does this guy have an imagination. It'd be kinda interestring to get a psychological work-up done on Third Day. Then again, it's probably best I don't have access to info like that lol. Seriously, we've conversed a few times via e-mail way back when, as well as briefly in the forum here, and he's a heck of nice guy. I'd love to see him drop in one day to say hi...and if he came bearing a track or three, even better. :)

Objectively speaking about the only thing I would've suggested he change was the weight on his road barriers; they're just too heavy in my opinion, significantly robbing the trucks of momemtum, thus preventing you from successfully making the jumps. At least that's true of the first lap provided everyone doesn't try to bypass the barriers by taking extreme (no pun intended lol) right or left passages. Then again, for all we know maybe that's how he intended it. One thing's for sure, the crashes that result from going thru those barriers the first time are...well, impressive to say the least - trucks flying everywhere lol.

I'm not sure why I didn't do a full review on this track. If I had to hazard a guess it was probably because Mal or Phin had me doing one of several menial tasks around here lol. However, if I had reviewed it, I'd say the Copey Rating on this baby would definitely be in the 8.5 range easlily. Good stuff, TD - sure hope you drop by some time, bud. :)

PS - Great job on the track screenshot's Mal/Phin - looking good!

Yes I am alive! It has been a few years since I have posted anything. I could not sleep so I thought I would look up some old MTM2 sites and that let me here. It is great to see everyone still enjoying the game. It is one of my all time favorites.
In the past few year I now have a wife, two kids, a rabit and two fish and taken over the family business but still have time to take my son to a Monster truck show April 1 06 @ John Labatt Center, because you have to prioritize in life, right.
Talk again when I can't sleep.
Till then keep racing.
