 Post subject: color changes

im doing my 2nd replica which is indy 2004. the car ramps are purple. i made a purple texture but in the game, its a brownish color not the purple texture i made. but in track view to take pics of the track, the ramps are purple. can someone help? :)

Make a custom pallete and see if that does anything. just a suggestion. IF you dont konw how to make one go to the topic about my Soldier Speedway it explains it there.

The problem relates to the fact that the game is always displayed with only 256 colors.
Each track and truck can have its own set of 256 colors. But in a race, the game engine needs to break down everything to a single common 256 color palette. Colors not included in that common palette will be displayed with the closest available color, close being numerically defined based on the Red-Green-Blue values.
For the calculation of the common palette, the tracks' palette is the most (only?) relevant.
[The screen displayed while the track gets loaded is also affected by the palette: with some tracks you may see noticeable color distortions.]

All this implies that truck colors will be different depending on the track they run. In your case, because purple is not a kind of color heavily used in tracks, the closest available approximation will often be quite far away, hence the brownish tone you get.
