Make a 256 color BMP graphic sized at 257x210 pixels.

Then when in the traxx component box, right click the "browse bitmap" and select load. Open your graphic and that's it, it's there in game.

What program are you using? How are you making the image? What paint program are you using?

Don't give up so fast! Making a track picture is really easy, like just a couple of steps, and if you're making tracks in Traxx you should easily be able to do this. If you let us know what paint program you're using we can easily give you instructions from start to finish but since I don't know here's my example:

I use Paint Shop Pro (PSP). Say I want to make a track picture using this image: http://mtm2.com/~tracks/P2007/leviscatc ... bylevi.jpg
that I have saved as a file on my harddisk.

First, I open the leviscatchthetrainbylevi.jpg image in PSP.
1. Now, this image is the wrong dimensions - 640x480 while we need it to be 257x210 pixels, so it needs to be resized. In PSP I have tools to Resize, Cut or Crop the image to get the size I want depending on whether I want to just shrink or use a portion of the image.
2. Now, we need the image to be 256 colours - in PSP I click the Image menu, select the Colour Depth option and pick 256 colours, and the program does it.
3. Then all I have to do is save as a BMP. File menu, Save As... and in the type box I just select from the list *.BMP file.

That's it! Then it's ready to load into Traxx, and done!

Levi, as they have mentioned it is easy, you are doing the hardest part... making a track.

If you have the pic but still dont think you can alter it, throw my way and I will alter it and send back to you. :)

That depends on what you want the picture to be.

Meantime. Here is a good paint program for you. It's a demo but does not expire.

Did the open dialog box look "exactly" like this?

<center><img src="http://mtm2.com/~mtmg/misc/browsebitmap/images/browsebitmap16.gif" width="426"></center>

Learning how to use a good graphics/paint program like PSP is an important part of track making. D2S and Phin gave some great help and advice to get you started.

btw, your river boat race is a very cool track :)

thanks malibu. and yes i have got some good help on this matter. i like the way phineus and all the others helped me with the step by step to doing it proper. again thanks to all. one question when i get to the hold crtl key and press j then it says save and give it a name. do i give it the same name as the track name or do i give it another name.

You can give it any name you like. TrackView will set the track's name by default but that is just a helper. You can take as many pictures as you like of the same track. I usually number them, like so.

My track 01.jpg
My track 02.jpg
My track 03.jpg
My track 04.jpg

But when you load it into Traxx, the traxx program will take care of the rest for you. There's no need to worry about file names after you load it into Traxx.
