here my say in this. I've been going to Monster Trucks shows for about 22 years. I'm a firm believer that monster jam is staged, I've seen what was done with the Monster Trucks 2000 thing and can say if they can stage racing, then why can't Monster Jam.
LN lies to there fans about alot of things. They told us that Dennis was the first driver to freestyle, but if you look at youtube you can find many freestyles through the 80's long before Dennis was even really heard of. I heard Scott Douglas say on MJ a couple of days ago that Grave Digger was the first truck to have a grave digger running at more than one show to accomadate the fans. this was done long ago with Bigfoot. And who remembers when they lied to us and said Madusa was the first Female monster truck driver? Sorry but there was females racing monster trucks when Madusa was a nobody wrestling manager.
I think what is really needed is that this new owner NEEDS the MTRA to step in and take control of the Monster Truck side. there have been way to many safety issues overlook over the years.

I 100% agree with the PENDA thing. I reckon Monster Jam could learn a lot from it. My perfect dream of Monster Jam is PENDA, but in a stadium, and freestyle afterwards.
And, as to the rigging comment... right, I'll explain.
Repair costs. You think LN (now FE) rigged the events in favour of their trucks. Nothing, in my opinion, could be further from the truth. Think about how hard Max D, Grave Digger, and all the other LN trucks. They can run as hard as they want - broken parts, twisted frames, broken wheels, the works. However, they can afford to go bigger and harder since the promoter pays for the damage and the driver doesn't. And the indy teams: do you really think that they can run as hard as the LN trucks and afford the repair bill? Sure, they have some sponsors, but at the end of the day they need to fit their driving to their budget. If you have $3,500 in your bank account, you can't go out and blow a $60,000 engine, can you?
The LN trucks run harder, and win. The indies don't, and they don't win, because they can't afford to wreck the truck, pay for repairs, pay for their family, etc.
Events are fairly won - in a way.

I wouldn't be so sure, if MJ stays the same through the years then people (even fans) are going to get bored of it, and they will stop going, resulting in MJ losing profits and then being forced to do something different.

Then whats the deal with the addition of the newer style freestyle obstacles and the new track variations? The basic elements are the same yes, but they are introducing new things and new variations of things all the time. I agree with the points about the company trucks being able to run harder, but i HIGHLY doubt that anything is staged. Think about anything/everything that can go wrong on a monster truck at any time. IMO, it would be almost impossible to stage something like that.
"This is a big toy, thats what we do. Its just parts man. I'm ok, you're ok, the fans are ok, its only parts."- Jim Koehler
It makes NO sense for MJ events to be staged. The drivers would have little incentive to push their trucks and it would result in a dramatically dull show. That's counter-intuitive to the type of event they want to put on. If they were to rig their shows, there would be none of the "WOW" moments that make monster trucks fun.

staged?
I know for a fact MJ is not staged, now, thats not to say the odds arent skewed in favor of the big names.
in fact, just to make an interesting point, Ive heard people insinuating stuff like this for a few years now, stuff like "oh they let Tom Meents run a bigger than MTRA motor or this or that. It would be easy to say that, and say well, when nothing breaks and he drives right, he always wins, but the fact is, the Company trucks are for the most part better equipment, and for sure better funded, and as the old addage goes, Speed Costs, "How Fast ya wanna go?"
anyway, would I like to see a change in format back to a more race central format(not necessarily straight drags), Yes
Do I like what Monster Jam has become, Absolutely Not
Do I think it will change, No

Most of the independent guys can't afford to tear up their trucks like MJ's trucks would.

I still think it was pretty dumb to have wrestling involved with monster trucks. Most of them did look cool, but still...

At the shows slam a few margeritas ,and scream like your at a rock concert. You will be so fired up you wont care if the MT racing & FS is fake or not.I know the quad wars portion is fake its to obvious.Team Texas allways wins in Houston cause some driver slows down on the opposing team or some stupid trick is pulled. For instance at last Saturdays show you thought Oklahoma won cause they were in black shirts and a black shirt crossed the line 1st,but when they got to the winner stage the chick who won pulled off her shirt to reveal she was really in a white shirt and rode for team Texas.I remember a few years back b4 plastic beer bottles were served watchin people hurl glass beer bottles at the quad war racers cause they pulled lame crap.Good thing there were only plastic bottles last Saturday. If your expecting changes in the show cause of a new owner dont get your hopes up.Its still the same MJ and it still a great nite out for the family!
There are so many reasons to dismiss this story as garbage that I'm not even going to get into them.MadMudNut wrote:Paul your wrong there bud I work on crew and have drove trucks. So I'll just say, "This story is garbage." Please move along.
