Yep, closer for sure. I ran it real quick just to see and I pulled :50.62 as well with hardware, manual 2000 s/s. Needless to say you shouldn't be getting your doors blown off anymore . . . and if you are, it ain't your stick lol.

It doesn't matter because the speed test is a track where you run full throttle from start to finish. I also had some controller probs a while ago (could only get upto 7800 rpm in neutral) and i noticed that the biggest problem is not the smaller topspeed, but the slower acceleration. Phin only has 1 mph difference when he's riding with stick or with keyboard, but i'm sure it takes a lot longer from 0-60 (and even more from 0-100) with his stick then it takes with his keyboard. And since most tracks have turns where you have to accelerate when coming out of them ....
I love motorsports, because for soccer, basketball, tennis, golf, ... you only need 1 ball
To my knowledge there's no specific right or wrong way, however there are two schools of thought that I'm aware of. Some people shift according to the sound of the engine. Me - I upshift at 6000 and down shift anytime I drop below 4000. That's a good starting point.

As far as i'm concern, there's no rule indeed. Depending on track portion and driving skills, you can use higher settings at lower rpm or lower setting at higher rpm. I for one often shift not base on rpm but more on requierment as i often use downshifting to control my speed in curve or to get over bumps and various obstacles. As an average, i get my reference from the speed instead of the rpm. On most settings, around 65 pmh.
Having said that, i have not tryed this track so i cant really be specific in this case.

Actually that should read, "I for one used to shift not based on rpm but on requirement . . . ". You see, Jumper, like Phin isn't a racer either; not anymore lol.
