Have you found the CD woody?

Yes I did but thanks to ATT's wonderful customer service I have been without Internet at home for the past four weeks. (Was just reconnected yesterday afternoon)

Its labeled Monster Truck Madness 2 Beta 2 and if I can get the green light from Phin I'll ftp it one of these nights.

It was made around August 1997 and has trucks and utilities too. I'm hoping Woody might be able to tell us more.... but he hasn't checked back since his above post, so dunno if all his connection problems are solved yet.

Monster Truck "PAK", sounds like something for the Nintendo 64.

They sold that in stores...I remember seeing it in Electronics Boutique. I think some software company just bundled a bunch of downloadables and support software for MTM1 and released it. Some weren't so happy about it.

Warning! This is a development copy of MTM2 and does not represent the game as it is intended to be played; it is NOT the retail game and should not be used as a replacement for the full, patched version. Anybody interested in playing MTM2 should buy an official copy or, if none are available, download install and patch the full game iso. Alternately, you can use the full demo version.

This one is actually beta-3
  • MTM1 sounds/music
  • There are more commentaries of Army Armstrong during the race
  • You can increase/decrease the visibility by pressing ctrl+1/ctrl+2
  • The Heli doesn't stop when you press H again
  • You can unlock the graveyard
  • Textures and backdrop on Junkyard track are different.
  • There's 2 Outsiders
  • Some trucks are missing
  • Beta wheels-axlebar
  • Water is almost white
  • MTM1-like camera handling
  • It has a really cool colorful start screen

and nope, no chuck truck nor patriot truck.
Thanks Woody, and Phin for hosting the file.

Wow, the tracks sure seem different in the beta: Voodoo Island is alot different, Tinhorn Junction doesn't have all those annoying boulders on the road, and Tumbleweed Flats has less checkpoints plus petrol stations (I wish those were in the final game).

The trucks make better noises also.

trucks make a really cool engine sound when they have to make a big jump

and now for some pics:

<table width='50%'><tr><td><img src="http://jpkmaster.googlepages.com/mtm2beta18.jpg"></td><td><img src="http://jpkmaster.googlepages.com/mtm2betascreen.jpg"></td></tr><tr><td><center>retail</center></td><td><center>beta</center></td></tr></table>

Image
no crown, just garage and thats it.
Image
Seems like this commentary got removed
Image
anything that army says, goes to the screen, even the "GO!"
Image
hyper with different, solid textures
Image
adjusting visibility
Image
adjusting water level
Image
weird bug
you can also call the heli during a rumble.

tracks also were different, voodoo was a lot harder and really difficult to drive on, there are almost no models on sidewinder canyon, trucks had mtm1-like psychics, one collision and you went flying, most of the sound effects are from mtm1
