Truck maker plugin for BinEdit.

Post by Phineus »

The first plugin for BinEdit. It's been a long time in the making but we think it's ready for general use. Currently, truck selections are limited to north american models and the years only go back to nineteen sixty. If it proves worth while, we will try to expand available models to include euro trucks, and maybe even go back to some antique years and models. There is no plan at this time to include cars.

Here's how it works. Download the Truck Maker program from here and copy it into the binedit program folder. It must be in the binedit folder to work.
<ul><li><a href="http://binedit.com/TruckMaker.exe">TruckMaker.exe</a> (68k)</li></ul>
Make a shortcut to the exe or just double click it. Do not open binedit yet. When truck maker opens, you'll get a screen like this.

<img src="http://mtm2.com/~forum/images/truckmaker1.gif" width="447" height="407">
</center>

Now just make your selections. For example, like so.

</center>

If you change your mind, just go back and make any adjustments you want. The plugin won't let you make wrong selections. When everything is correct, the "Make Truck" button will become activated. Click it, and BinEdit will automatically open and your truck will load into the work space, like so.

</center>

Now you can add any personal touches to it you want and give it a custom paint job. You will still have to create the TRK file but that shouldn't be too hard by this stage.

Have fun, and let us know what you think.

I'd like to see the algorithm that you use for fitting the faces. I'm surprised that the best fit isnt usually all triangles.

Props to you. This is the best i've seen in a while.
Keep on MTMing,

Well...

May I ask why I get an "April fools" message when I click the Make Truck button? :?

It's obviously not a joke, otherwise where would we get that completed truck picture?

Since it's now officially april 3rd, I guess there's no harm in providing a link.
