I needed something to do when I was bored over Christmas, so this seemed like a good idea. It's another dirt track, much like the Dust Bowl.

I chose the name because I'm a huge Dire Straits fan (I know I'm not the only one here. Uppy Downy) and it seems like a plausible race track name. This circuit is of medium length, has some nice smooth terrain and one large hill near the end which is a favourite for spectators. It's much narrower than the Dust Bowl circuit and is more like an arena. Most of the inspiration is from the real life CORR tracks Antelope Valley and Chula Vista.

As of now there are now models or checkpoints, just a final layout and terrain. I'd like to know what the racers think of this before I start making it look pretty. I'm also going to need checkpoint recommendations. Hopefully this'll be a success like my last one.

Thanks Phin. What do you think of the layout? Does it need any adjustments?

I like it, and think it's good as is. The challenging part will be that hairpin right u-turn.

I'm not sure about the section on top of the hill, the banking and rhythm bit. It's quite smooth but I don't know if it really fits there.

I've started drawing up plans for the scenery now as well.

You mean at the top, after the left turn and those couple whoops? It's fine. Nothing too extreme but just enough to slow you down if you don't hit it right. Of course, once some scenery gets in you might change your mind, but given the way it is now I'd say you can go ahead with the next bits you want to put in.

OK, I'll get on with the models now. New beta should be out later this week.

Hi Crashcart, when I first saw the name I immediately thought of the Overland Telegraph Line which was one of the greatest civil engineering feats in the history of Australia, so of course I had to download and take a look Smile
I had in my minds eye when I was racing on it, the finished look which of course will be very different from your final track, but having driven the telegraph line here... the terrain, the feel made me remember trips of long ago.

I loved the layout.
