MTM1 Classics Tourney - Friday Nights?

Post by runt9 »

This is just simply an idea I'm pitching to everyone. I know most of us have been around since the MTM1 days, and remember some of the great tracks that were around back then. I've done a couple races with people on classic MTM1 tracks, and we really enjoyed it. So I'm thinking of making a tourney out of it on Friday nights at 8:00pm. It'd be run in the same fashion as any other tourney, but the catch is that we'd only race MTM1 tracks, and I'm thinking about the possibility of a classic MTM1 truck pack of about 12-14 trucks. They all still work in MTM2, and this would make for some interesting action. As long as everyone has the .pod, there'd be no issues, and they're less verts than mtm2 models, so there would be no lag problems, either.

I wanted to get the interested of the community before I went for it. If this sounds like something you'd enjoy doing, let me know. If I feel the support for it is high enough, I'll go ahead and go through with it.

Thanks,

MTM1 is painful online, you think MTM2 online is buggy, "you ain't seen nothing yet"

No, MTM1 trucks and tracks in MTM2. I played MTM1 online, it's miserable...

This may help a bit. When making binedit, I converted about half the trucks on KingDave's truck o rama to mtm2 format, including lights, while testing the truck editor

http://mtm2.com/~trucks/trucks.cgi?year=1997

I've been saving the remainder for when progress on binedit resumes... but there should be enough there to draw up a good mtm1 truck pack.

As far as an mtm1 night goes, it should work fine. In fact, there's been a clammoring for something to do Friday nights anyway, and short of a ToC special event nothing's been planned so the evening should be just about wide open for you. And lastly, august has typically been nostaliga month and there's always been a good turn out, so I can't see why people wouldn't come out if you got something together.

Should be good...

Phin I see mentioned this... every August we host the Nostalgia Month year after year -

Check details HERE

I have been asked time and time again to host things for Friday nights, so if you would like to do something then it would be great Runt - I say go for it! :) The interest is definately there.

Well, I've had a few people tell me that Friday Nights have been open for too long and many people seem to enjoy the idea of an MTM1 classics sort of thing, so I think I'll go ahead and go along with this. I'm not sure what the process is for setting up an official tournament here, but once I get a good pack of trucks made, I'll let everyone here know when I plan on beginning the tournaments. It might be as soon as this Friday if I want to go ahead and give it a trial run.

Thanks for the support, everyone!

As this is a busy thread, maybe one of the mods here could pin this for a bit , so it stays around the top of the thread, then we can keep watching for it to start?

Well, I have completed the pack of trucks. The only issue is that the zip is 1.52 megs, which is slightly more than the allowed upload limit. Phin, is there any way I can still have it uploaded?

Thank you very much, Phin!

I may need to make some corrections to the pack, but it should be pretty rock solid as it is. If there are any issues, let me know.

Alright, I'll have a fix and a new upload ready sometime tomorrow. Thanks for the help, I thought I had fixed the problem we had with those two.

Ok. For now, I've turned it off the page so nobody gets a problem download. And I've renamed the zip so you can use the same name and maker info without getting complaints about files already existing.

Phin we need a mtm2 stock track pack, so those who don't have can d/l and mount. Problem is, its 16 mb file, and the site complained for me.
