Podini may have messed up my game

Post by Green Machine »

OK, so after I played around with Monster Truck Madness 2 a few times, I decided to download a few trucks to test out & maybe re-paint to make my own trucks. However, I couldn't get PodIt to mount any pods to the pod.ini file, so I decided to manually insert it. Unfortunately, the first truck I inserted won't show up in the game.

Thus, I decided to try Podini to insert another truck, and that's when a big problem happened. Whenever I try to start the game up now, it gives me an error that says "Monster Truck Madness cannot find one or more required files. Please insert the CD and press OK. If this message appears more than once, you may need to re-install Monster Truck Madness."

Uninstalling the new trucks didn't help, either. What's going on? How can I fix this?

Simple fix... either uninstall and reinstall ooooooooorrrrr... just copy the pod.ini off the game cd into your mtm2 folder. Just make shure you delete the old pod.ini file first.

Oh and also mtm only lets you have so many pod files added so when it says MAX NUMBER HIT it literally means MAX NUMBER PODDED! So to use an analogy to put it in literal translation it means the fat chicks too full to eat any more.

Ah, so that's what the problem was!

I re-installed the game & the patch, tried this & now I can enjoy other people's trucks! Thanks!

One other question: Do I need to get permission from the creator of a truck to re-paint it & upload it here? I mean, suppose the original truck had a more generic body like an 85' Chevy pickup with no outstanding features, would I need permission to re-paint?

Of course. However, I usually just show off my trucks without giving credit until I release them (if I ever do).

Something I do in MTM2 and 4x4 Evo when putting new items in the POD.INI file is to insert the track or truck before the bottom entry of the pod. At the bottom of the POD.INI in both games there's usually a hidden control character. It marks the EOF (end of file). You won't see it, so always insert whatever pods before the last text entry in the POD.INI.

track1.pod
track2.pod
NewOneHere.pod <--
track3.pod
