MTM book
MTM book
I was searching amazon looking for some info and among the 60,000 titles listed under monter trucks I came across this.

A curious little item, I should think. And fourteen copies under five bucks, four of those brand new.
==========
I also saw an assortment of other MT books, including coloring, how to draw, doodle art, pop-ups, and sticker books. Lotta nifty stuff if you have nothing else to waste your money on.

I actually bought that book way back when and still have it. A lot of it is kinda more hype than actual help, but there are some good tips in it (like the skip-half-of-Yucatan-Adventure-shortcut). What is nice is the top down maps which give you a much better view of where shortcuts and what not should be.

Interesting stuff Phin, I wonder if they can ship it to the UK. I would like to see those topdown maps and read about the shortcuts, although I already know about the skip-half-of-Yucatan one. Anyway, I'll give it some thought and if I get this book, I'll tell you a few things you may not have heard.

For anybody wondering, I'd say this was worth the two dollars for a new copy, but it is definitely not worth sixteen bucks or more, new or used. I've only been looking at it a while now and aside from the text being printed on a slant on most pages - my scanning is dead on perfect - there are errors throughout the book. Two off the top are:
>> http://cownap.com/~mtmg/docs/imoves/pages009.html
First line of the introduction has a verb tense problem: "They playing to sold-out arenas..." should be: "They're playing to sold-out..." or "They play to sold-out..." I mean, come on, the very first line of the very first page and they gaff.
>> http://cownap.com/~mtmg/docs/imoves/pages138.html
Fourth paragraph has a page layout problem: the sentence: "even if you have a fast 28.8 [delta] 137 ¶ k bps modem..." should not have the delta code - which appears to force a new paragraph where none is warranted.
Agreed, they are not the worst problems in the world but it is plagued with this stuff, and for the better part of twenty bucks I want proofers who aren't asleep on the job and editors who have actually read the book.

* documentation

Some may have it in one area but I'd like to see the one that has it in them all - for a single game not all sequels combined. Toss in the creativity in all areas and I'm betting it'll be tough to beat.
PS. If somebody has the mtm1 cd booklet, I wonder if it would be too much trouble to send me the raw scans, uncropped at 300dpi.
