Are you good with windows?

Post by Slayer »

Test your windows knowledge by finding the 15 things wrong in this image. (things that cannot be done without hacking or otherwise)

This is a Windows 95 operating system so remember that (hint hint lol)

Hint:
the text document should not be a recycle bin
the black boxes in the task bar are normal
Image

answers will be posted at a later date or when all the abnormal thigns are found
(probably next week)

see if you can spot them all

CORRECTION, sorry, one of the "wrongs" was not clear, so i will provide it to you
since you can actually rename internet explorer normally
3. Should be Internet Explorer, not Internet Exploder

this error also exists on the answer sheet, there is in reality only 14 things wrong in this image

The trouble with these things is the person making it seldom creates the puzzle in general terms. There is almost always room for 'interpretation'. So, here you go...

  • I don't recall the 'my computer' and the 'network neighborhood' icons looking like that but a theme could be anything.
  • 'Trash can' should probably be 'recycle bin'
  • flash hero error report txt has an odd icon
  • 'Games' folder does not have an arrow. Conversely, 'Programs' and 'Shared files' do, but I wouldn't if it was mine.
  • 'Shared Files' should probably be 'shared documents'. I hope you're not going to say 'programs' should be 'program files' because I name my own files to my own liking.
  • LB2.error has a long file extension.
  • 'Click here to finish' should be 'click here to begin'
  • It's 7:08 not 10:24
  • Windows explorer says one file selected but we don't see it.
  • Windows explorer says the file is 64.5 giga bytes, but that seems unlikely for microsoft.
  • Windows explorer maximize button shows full screen when it's a window.
  • Windows explorer says 'another computer' where it usually says 'my computer'
  • Windows explorer has three exclamation points after 'help'
  • I don't think a folder name can have a slash in the name. That is, 'final fantasy 3/6' is not possible.
  • It's not an error but files should not really contain more than one dot in them.
  • I don't know what zd-spc is but I'm betting winamp is better :-P
  • And that guy has one ugly desktop.

you are correct however windows 95 does not have "themes"

'Trash can' should probably be 'recycle bin'
correct

flash hero error report txt has an odd icon
correct

'Click here to finish' should be 'click here to begin'
correct

Windows explorer says the file is 64.5 giga bytes, but that seems unlikely for microsoft.
(to big for a FAT 16/FAT 32 filesystem)
correct

Windows explorer maximize button shows full screen when it's a window.
correct (most ppl miss this)

Windows explorer says 'another computer' where it usually says 'my computer'
correct

Windows explorer has three exclamation points after 'help'
correct

I don't think a folder name can have a slash in the name. That is, 'final fantasy 3/6' is not possible
[there is two isntances of this, counts as two]
correct (phine is the first person ever to notice that)

I don't know what zd-spc is but I'm betting winamp is better :-P
(ZD_SPC is a program made in C++ to play SPC files, and yes winamp plays SPC files better but ZD_SPC is one of the few SPC players that works on windows 95

thats 11 correct, only 3 to go

> windows 95 does not have "themes"

Sure does. You needed to get the plus pack, but it had them.

> too big for a FAT 16/FAT 32 filesystem

And too big for NTFS

> only 3 to go
  • 12343 seconds (3 hours 42 mins) is a bit long for a 3:03 length tune... or is 3.03 the name of the file
  • the explorer folder icon might be wrong but I have no way to check
  • trash can icon should look more like the flash hero icon
  • I still think the games folder icon should have an arrow
  • internet explorer icon says internet exploDer

You change the post after I replied.

> 2 to go

If you said there was three to go and I got two, that leaves one.

1. My computer has a blue screen of death
2. Wrong icon for a text document
3. Ain't it the truth, should be internet explorer
4. What's with the red death screen, should be green
5. Trevor can't draw
6. What is this? a Mac OS? should be Recycle Bin
7. Only true if you error out when you click start, otherwise its Click here to begin.
8. Windows don't know words, should be the #1, 1 object(s) selected
9. Can't have a slash in a folder name
10. That one file is slightly to big to work on a FAT32 file system don't you think?
11. The smaller computer also has a blue screen of death
12. You wish it was another computer that had this many problems, but it's not
13. Would be true if any of this image were true, otherwise, drop the "!!!"
14. Once again, can't have those slashes in the name
15. That window sure is maximized... wrong button between minimize and close buttons.
