mtm2 load times

Post by Mat-Allum »

I thought I asked this before but I checked all my posts and apparently I didn't.

I've noticed that for a long time, mtm2 takes forever to load specific screens. From the menu to the game, from the pause screen to the game, and from the replay screen to the full-screen replay result in ~30-second pauses where all I see is a blank screen with a (non-working) menu or the black-and-white truck.

This has happened for over a year (I think) and didn't even stop when I bought a new computer. I tried freeing up some h/d space, reinstalling mtm2, and running in compatibility mode (set to win98). Nothing works - any idea what's going on here?

First thing I thought of was the old High Scores file issue but when I went looking for a thread to link to I found you have indeed asked this question before :)

I have no idea what else to suggest, sorry.

Here's a shot in the dark. How much memory do you have in your computer?

@Phineus

Here's my specs if this helps.

512 mb of ram
2.8ghz processor
nVidia GeForce 6200 Turbocache vid card
80gb hard drive (technically 70.9), 40.8gb used

I'll try the highscore thing, dunno if that will help. That link you gave me to my old question makes me wonder about the registry thing though.
