Forum update

Post by Phineus »

I will be updating the forum this week and will probably shut it for about an hour this evening. There may also be very brief interuptions thorugh the week, but nothing to worry about. Sorry for any inconvenience but we'll be better off for it once I'm done.

Five year old coding that was hacked and patched to pieces upgraded to the most recent version with a few hacks thrown in for good measure. Some of the themes and styles were no longer available so I recreated them for the new scripting. If all went well then nobody should notice anything, but there were a lot of things to take into consideration so sometimes things slip through - like the most recent topic link. It's all different but I've done what I could to make it look the same. The reason for any of it was to prevent spam.

LOL @ Cale :-)

Don't know, I hardly use IE anymore.

If you are ... try clearing your cookies.. usually fixes that problem after an update.

The code is not mine (I see no reason to reinvent the wheel) but I modify it for our use. And by the way, the BBTech style was the only one I didn't have to recreate... but even that had to be updated somewhat.

I just used it cause it had the tree on it, the default one, I couldnt find the tree, I had to keep clicking the title to go back lol. Can you make the tech one be a bit more obvious when u have a new PM, right now u gotta hold ur mouse over the button and it tells u in a tool tip.

Tree ? You mean like this [ctree] ?

I just switched mine and I didn't see no trees, lol

For pm's, just allow the pop up. That's what I do, anyway. The 'dark' one has a message that actually says you have 1 new message but I never think to look, but the pop up is right in your face so you can't miss it. You could also have it mail you.

Are you using IE levi?

If so try this:

Open IE & click on 'Tools' then 'Internet Options'

On the 'General' tab click the Delete Cookies' button and then select 'Ok'.

Click the 'Security' tab, then the 'Trusted Sites' Icon and then the 'Sites' button.

Under 'Add this Web site to the zone' put in this sites URL.

Click the 'Privacy' tab and slide the slider down the whole way to 'Accept All Cookies'.

Then 'Apply' and 'Ok'.

Close your browser.

Reopen your browser , try logging in and posting in this forum again.

You could then try sliding the 'Privacy' slider up a bit at a time until it gives you a problem then go back down again.

Hope this helps you some.
