From what I remember the sound quality is horrible and it was known it could cause lag during a game. IIRC the use of the CB was banned in tournaments back when I raced regularly.
Reality is for those that cant handle video games.
I had amanged to chagne something i think in monster.ini or system.ini that imrpoved the sound quality on my transmit.
I think it was the compression thing.
Just press and hold "R" during a track and you can speak to everyone. Yeah, bad quality, but what do you expect from a 1997 or so game? : )
Now-a-days we use TeamSpeak or MSN voice to talk.
Chatting with Opponents While You're Racing -
When you're racing head-to-head against other drivers during a multiplayer game, you can exchange snide remarks, words of encouragement, or even discuss the current track conditions.
You can send text-based chat messages that can be read by all the drivers, or you can send private messages to one other driver. Keep in mind, that even as you're typing in messages, you're still driving, and you still have to control your monster truck. You have joystick control while sending a message, but you don't have access to some keyboard commands.
No crashes caused by negligent chatting!
If you have a microphone and speakers attached to your computer, you can also use the CB radio to broadcast verbal messages to all your opponents.
To broadcast messages using the CB radio
On the Multiplayer screen, click CB Radio.
-Or- Press R to activate the CB radio during a track.
