CPR2MTM2

Post by Kmaster »

I'm working in a new proyect called CPR2MTM2 (Cart Presicion Racing to Monster Truck Madness 2)If you guys remember that, like 3 or 4 years before announced that I was trying to convert Laguna Seca to MTM2 (Laguna Seca is a CPR Trial Version track, I didn't have the Retail Version of CPR). a month later I said, "this is impossible! too many custom textures to create!" I just hated to create custom textures. Now I still hate to create custom textures, BUT now I'm trying the easiest one. Homestead, Miami FL. I have also downloaded a rip-version of CPR and CPREdit, a TrackEd of CPR. (Microsoft don't care about this game... either, so what the hell, let's download.) NOTICE : TrackEd does NOT convert the tracks to MTM format, you have to do it manually. I now how. and I won't tell you, other day maybe, but not now. I gotta make sure that everything work right, and make some improvements. The tools that I'm using to do this are : Traxx, UltraEdit, Slice60, TXBIN & CPREdit. Here are some pics of the alpha version of the track. Cool, isn't it?

PD: If someone could share an ISO file, PM me. That would be apreciated.

Those road textures look a lot like the stock C'98 textures from mtm2.

CPR was TRI's project before MTM2, so they share a lot - textures, trees, and even interface.

Great job, K. Do you have the full version of CPR or just the demo? I'm interested in the cars.

I have a ripped version of the full game, if you need anything from CPR just ask. By the way, most of the game models are available on the MTMG CPR section.

I would love to see those CART vehicles racing with big wheels. :)

And yes, I used a modified version of the c98 road textures (stock and custom). I replaced the grass with sand and I added four lane turns.

Here is the POD file of all the racecars.

Some notes:
Models are stored in two formats, BIN for low detail models and CMD for high details. Of course BIN files are well documented and we have programs to modify them, but not for CMD files, which are, plain text files. Like OBJ files

Code: Select all

name
PacWest/Gugelman
lowDetailName
pacwestl.bin
lowDetailCenterZ
-123
material
PACWEST1.RAW
partName
RWING
vertexCount
32
faceCount
12
center
0,594,-1671
angle
0,0,0
vertexList
-435,32,-77
-435,5,115

Nice work, Kmaster. I'd love to race some of those CART Precison Racing tracks on MTM2. I suck at CART, but it's still fun to play and the tracks are pretty neat.

KM, you are awesome. It initially looked like, if one could extract that CMD into separate OBJ's, then arrange them accordingly in BE, you could get this to work, but I don't think the face thing works out. Time to play around, I guess.

I'm aware of the Cart Precision Racing Playground and CPRedit :) Understanding how CPR tracks are made in CPRedit helped me converting Laguna Seca to MTM2. Right now I'm finishing the barriers.

Is it possible to use CPRedit with the trial version, or do you have to get the full version?

CPRedit need the complete stock cars for the ground & track editor, so I dont think you can use the trial with it.

If you want CPR I can talk with Phin about uploading an ISO.

Well done! It's much more accurate than I was expecting, to be honest. The only real deviation I can tell is that the top of the hill just before the corkscrew could peak more suddenly (and the drop be more sudden too). Otherwise, just needs some smoothing of the altitudes.

Love it bro, and the times seem accurate too, can't wait for the final version.
Still around. Somewhere.
