PM customs continues his series of leafer style customs with Marathon, a late 80's chevrolet Silverado. Someone with not much knowledge on old school monster trucks could easily mistake it for a real truck. The paint is very "80's truck" style, and while simple, it gives the truck a particular, attractive styling. The black layers are well placed to.

It handles very nicely to, I have tried it on medium and hard suspension and it doesn't lean much on either, making it perfect for circuits/rallies. Works nice on drags as well.

The lights are aligned with the truck body, but here is the problem. The lights that were on the roll bar have been removed, but the light textures are still there, so the roof lights are shining from thin air.

This can be fixed by removing the roof light textures in the "truck editor" in Binedit. This is the only bad point I have found on the truck though.
The wheels are White2098's CMQ wheels (no surprise there), proving again how acclaimed they are among the MTM2 community.

I am pleased to see custom trucks are still being made, and this is a fine example of what a custom should be; a simple yet attractive truck. You don't have change much to get a nice result, and it shows on Marathon.

Thanks, Roadknight! Actually, I was going to release another version. You see, I was going to put a flag on the back, but forgot. I'll include the lights in the update.

Ya know, I was born after leafer trucks had been replaced with the Penda- era trucks, So I don't know much about them!

Well, seems like I'm not the only one...

Nice job on the truck. It really does look like a real PENDA-era monster truck.

Looks way more TNT-style to me.

Well, old PENDA. Not like 1995 kind of stuff.

Speaking of "old PENDA", when were "leafer" and "real-body" trucks no longer allowed to compete? Does anybody know?

Leafer trucks still do compete. Take a look at Sheer Insanity by Jet.

not to mention Rockstar, till the end of 08, t finally(after being built in 88ish as Hot Stuff) got a 4 link conversion just a few months ago.
yes, Sheer Insanity as well, also, SUPPOSEDLY Sheer Insanity is whats left of Bear Foot 1/Taurus 1
also there are a few other older trucks still around competing, youtube has a few of them.

also, Jeff Strand still brings out Thunder Beast for a show every now and then
Also, Ecology Eliminator is still around and does a few events/displays out west

its not that they arent allowed to compete, its just that not to many of them are competitive in todays style of Monster Truck events, Point In Fact, there is a small movement to get Stage 1 and 2 monsters to either have there own events, Or to be used as the side events in bigger Monster Truck shows.

I've posted an update like I said I would. This one includes the lights on the roll bar ( they line up), and the flag I said I was going to add.

It's on the truck page. GO GET IT!!!

I highly doubt that, because if I recall correctly, when Marvin Anderson owned Wild Thing, he went through three frames, and the Bear Foot/Taurus frame was the first. Nonetheless, Sheer Insanity is still a leafer and still is an active truck.

I always thought Sheer Insanity was the Canadian Wild Thing. The frames are the same, and if you look close at the grille on the new Sheer Insanity truck, you can see the Canadian flag on the Chevy logo. The paint is also the same.

I have just taken a look at Sheer Insanity on Dennis Taft's site, I must say I wouldn't like to be in that when it lands after a high jump.

You are correct. Sheer Insanity is the same truck as Wild Thang. Same truck, different name.

I'm not sure one way or another on the accuracy of this information, but take it for what it's worth...
