I mean, every time i go to the mtm2/chat, this is the normal.

ShadowPrincess: Standard User, idle for 00:54:55 (hh:mm:ss)
Tron-jr: Standard User, idle for 10:44:13 (hh:mm:ss)
VTR_NZWizz: Standard User, idle for 10:39:37 (hh:mm:ss)
OLD_Jammer: Standard User, idle for 10:44:18 (hh:mm:ss)
_Sat_Racing_5est: Standard User, idle for 10:44:22 (hh:mm:ss)

That's a long time of doing nothing! Only 5 users and the average time is 10 hours afk? The current time is 12:09 PM.

Come on already, I wanna play this game...

I don't know why everyone doesn't ever at least keep the chat open so they can see when people want to play.

I try to whenever I am available for a race. I am always leaving my msnb contact info so people can message me for an IP race, but I have only had 2 or 3 takers.

Rip_maniac, and Dabomber will race almost ever day/night via IP, CLC too. if you don't have MSN, it;s a good place to start to find people to race. Now if we can talk everyone into coming into the chat when they are free instead of going via MSN or ICQ with people they always race with, we'd have more pickup races more often.

The tourneys are great for getting everyone together and being active unfortunately they don't always meet my schedule with three kids and permanent disability.

Most people go tot the chat, if they do find someone instantly go ip , and MSN then close the chat. It's rare to find anyone who will check back in on the chat for more players after they have a game open, or their friends are on msn.

FWIW
Rip_maniac had the same issue a lot of people do with mtm 2 and windows 7 a few days ago. Cut off graphics, etc. With a few tweaks and a glide wrapper she was up and running just fine. So it can be done with windows 7 and new graphics card. It just takes a little setup.

I can't seem to get into the chat reliably. Usually takes 5 - 10 minutes to connect, and if I am lucky, I might last over a minute...

I am pretty sure its just god telling me I shouldn't online game anymore.

Xfire is no go, no MSN, nothing. Only thing that seems to work is Steam Friends.

My Steam name is "SinisterSlay"

Folks at TR told me I should convert one of my old machines into a router and use that. And that there is a good chance that my daily activities are just too intense for a standard consumer router.

I had a linux router when I was wireless back in the day. It handled everything, I think was a p2?

They didn't; throttle wireless back then at all, so I ran cat 5 through the crack in the pavement to the neighbors house, and lit up the entire neighbor hood with the linux router. we could only get dialup unless we went with a high dollar wireless setup. (they didn't sell wireless routers or and cisco was the only wi0fi card really out then)

We all had shared folders for our movies and music (at least 10 houses) we never had a hitch or a slow down or lag issues. We also all downloaded and gamed heavily, this was back before napster was shut down. The only time rebooted is when we lost power. It only had a 1 gig hd, little ram and no accessories KB, mouse monitor etc. after setup it was all run with putty via ssh.

I honestly should have taken the time to setup that linux router, and grabbed wifi from the same company. They didn't have any encryption or passwords. There was no need because wi-fi was cost prohibitive for anythign ut a business back then, and were only used to interconnect business at a distance.

A direct connection to the fat pipe was sure nice while it lasted ;)
In short a linux router would totally rock for you and it doesn't need to be a big heavy machine either. Just consider a large amount of ram if you have a lot of multiple IP connections. :D

I got a real old beater box, its a 133mhz, 32mb of RAM and 1gb HDD. Trick is with a machine that small, I'm gonna need darn good tutorials on how to set up Linux on it. I already know modern Linux does not support ISA devices.

hey, whats your MSN, incase i need your help setting it up. I don't intend to set it up for a few months yet, but I will be eventually.

It would be nice to see you able to race once in a while ISP can be a big PITA.

I actually had one give me a dialup account too because the pings were in the 90's on dialup versus a very unstable ping through broad band

I have found that an unstable ping (though low) is worse than a high ping that is stable.

There are tourneys 5 nights a week Slayer.

So all the tourney posts I do are fake?

Come on man.

Update your Java to the current version and go in. If it takes as long as you are saying, you really need to get off that old 1999 laptop or whatever you brag about.

I can film it for you if you want, how hard it is to get in.

I cant make any of the tournies, and it seems no one plays during the rest of the time.

Mod, please close this topic (or delete). I can PM jammer a video of what happens when I try and connect.
