New install, need help

Post by N_Gage_18 »

I'm trying to install MTM2 on a new machine and I'm hitting a snag with the official patch. I've run it several times with various permissions and compatibility modes, and every time it gives me the "can't find valid install" error. is there anything in particular I need to do? Should the executable be in the game directory or something?

If you installed the game off the CD into Windows 10, it put it in the "Program Files (x86)" folder instead of the regular Program Files folder, which is what the patch is looking for. Simply put the Microsoft Games folder in the normal Program Files folder and it should work.

Got it. I'm running it on windows 7 but that worked regardless. I had installed the game into a different directory so that's what was throwing it off

Ok, problem 2: after installing and patching the game, I've run into another snag. I've set up NGlide, and got all my graphics settings done, but now evry time I try to launch a race I get an access violation error with no details besides that. I've tried tweaking my graphics settings and nothing seems to work. any ideas?

I haven't been able to get it to work with or without the patch or custom content. Same error every time too, and no details given

Sorry it took me so long to notice your reply. I tried just about every resolution below 1360x768, with and without 3DFX and nothing, fresh installs had the same issue too and various compatibility modes didn't help either.

I'm on a new rig now tho that thankfully doesn't have that issue
