I've read the post about the overlapping solution from Kmaster, I run Windows 8.1 and have a Geforce GTX650ti. I was having the same problem described, and I tried all kinds of things to fix it, and finally came to this and it worked for me. I figured I would pass it on, it might work, might not work for you.
Download MTM2 from the link on the main page. (http://mtm2.com/~mtmg/mtm2.html)
Unzip to desired folder. ex: C:\Program Files\MTM2\
Navigate to folder and change all files (sub folders) to "NOT" read only.
Select Monster.ex_, rename it to Monster.exe
Select the file properties for Monster.exe
Check run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows98 (ME).
Check run as administrator.
Run Monster.exe
Cross your fingers and hope it works.
