Converting to OBJ....

Post by Hacman »

I've been trying to convert some really cool 3ds files over to OBJ so that they can be put into MTM2 but whenever i import the OBJ the model is all twisted and weird and looks nothing like the model i converted. I've tried the 3 main model converting programs and they all do the same thing (3d exploration, crossroads, WCT2POV) Sometimes i can convert models over and sometimes i cant.

I really need help with this problem. I'll show some screenshots if you dont know what i mean. But at the moment i haven't prepared anything

Post some pics. I've had problems with faces being flipped but never twisting.

Thanks for the link Winterkill Image

As for the screenshots here they are. I have a screenshot of what the model looks like in 3d exploration and a pic of the converted model. It only has about as many faces as BIN_MASTAS camaro so its not like theres too many faces.

NOTE: I used a screenshot for 3d exploration for the before shot but the end result for the same model ends up the same with all the other model converting so its not a problem that only happens in 3dxploration.

Here we go. Sorry if the pics take forever to load.

Before....

After....

Now you should see what i mean and its not a very convenient thing.

edit: Whoops i forgot to downsample the pics but sorry i dont have time to downsample them. I'm real sorry if you have a slow internet connection. I'll try & get these fixed by tomorrow. Sorry once again

What I think is happening that i have had happen before to me is, when you export from a high detailed 3ds to a low quality obj it takes faces and points and joins them, making it look scrambled.... so maybe try a higher vertex and face count and it will look more normal. Other then that though.. keep trying, im sure you can get it to work!
