Light trick...

Post by ch_2005 »

I'm sure most of u guys know this but it's a good trick to learn if you are new to custom truck making.

I use this all the time to position headlights just right

open the truck model in BE, then make a new vert.
select the vert by hitting tab (or maybe shift-tab)
Just go till u find the right vert.

then use x,y,z,shft-x,shft-y,shft-z to move it aound until u have it where u want the center of the light to be. Then take the x,y,and z coordinates and divide by 256 to get the feet measurements.

Then open the trk in notepad and put in those feet numbers and it will be exactly where u want it :)
I never used to position the lights on my truck till i got a graphics card (couldnt really see them w/software mode) so when i did start moving the lights around i decided that i wasnt gonna do it by guess and check and guess and check and guess and check and guess and check and guess and check and guess and check.......

Rember, dont save the model with the floating vert cause that can cause the noah effect too.

Yep. I've done that nearly from the beginning. I did one truck using trial and error and thought 'never again'. I used binedit to position lights ever since.
