hmmm I smell a RAT Image, looks like yo got your touch back man...

I've been feeling a bit rusty myself... so I loaded up Sprekers Wild Rampage a few days ago, my fav track for shaking the cobwebs off... I used to be able to hit 1:55's but cannot seem to get under 2:00 Image... but I will, then I'll go play with the big boys...

Wild Rampage is such an ugly track from a visual standpoint, but the line is so fine and perfected (even more so than c98) it forces you to concentrate every inch of the way.

>>I dont suppose . . .

You suppose incorrectly.

Very barren at this stage, but shows potential. It also shows a rusty hand. Could it be that psyco is out of practice? Anyway, aside from some terrain smoothing, banking and alignment with ground boxes, I think the layout is fine. It sorta has a crosswinds feel to it. Having said that, I wonder if the c98 textures are the best ones for this. And, of course, you know I'm gonna moan about sight lines. Gotta see what's comin' up ahead... well, all except for that one spot coming up from below and heading into the next turn all at once. I like that part just as it is.

Just noticed this - be back with my impression sometime later today. Image

Ok I'm back, and it's only 20 min later. Hehe--change in schedule(wife left for work early, which is always a good thing), so I was able to take a few spins on it.

Yeah, nice layout, Psyco. Unlike Phin, blind or semi-blind turns don't bother me one bit. I see it all as a part of knowing the track, and maybe even separating racers who only think in terms of "fast, faster, and really fast" vs those who approach racing in general with a mixture of speed "and" accelerator control, looking for points on a track where they can exploit their opponent's weaknesses. Lots of times blind or partially blind turns provide such opportunities.

As for the reference to Crosswinds, I'm guessing Phin is referring to Cross 2. I don't get the same feeling...at all, and we run both Crosswinds a lot. Having said that, this track would in fact work just fine with a dirt texture, but I also feel it's ok with blacktop.

Here's a question; I seem to slide more using shallow tires on this as opposed to med tires. In real racing, and yeah, I know this is a game, but in real racing, on blacktop the tire of choice would be...should be shallow. What's this surface set to? Cement or something else?

Hehehe I don't think Phin and I constitute "everyone", and if you review my post, I said it works fine as a blacktop, but I also think it would do very well with a dirt texture, too. I actually felt you were simply looking to break new ground, and you affirmed that in your post.

As for the surface setting, why not make it accurate? I'm not a trackmaker, but I do know there are tracks like...say, CTX Speedway where the surface holds true to the type of tires you would use. You run med tires on that track and you won't hold the road nearly as well as you would with shallow, which is how it should be. Just my opinion.

Fairly sure cement works best for blacktop. Is it possible to check it out? I mean, if it's not too much work.

I'm wondering if I set the texture to cement in the texture box , will it change all the textures I've already placed?

Yes, and you should only need to change about a dozen or so. Just the ones with 50% or more pavement. News at eleven.

p.s. I think breakneck textures would look good here too. Depends on the models, if any, you include later.

I always put the settings of the texture to match the reality (at least it gives u a better feel).
