Beep, Beep!

Post by Clawfford »

Shortly after I began playing in the Zone, I fixed my horn so that it plays one of 3 random tunes instead of just "Dixie". (I HAD to do this... I played with an idiot who layed on the horn continuously the entire game, until I was ready to reach through my modem and rip out his "H" key!)

Simple instructions for doing this can be found at http://www.gameroom.com/clawfford/modifications.html

ANYWAY...

The "Ah-Ooga" and "Toy Horn" sounds are lame. Since I've been playing with game sounds, I unpodded everything I could think of in MTM2 looking for the horn WAVs to replace them. No luck. I couldn't find any likely files anywhere.

Anyone ever look for this? Do you know where the horn sound FX are stored, and can they be replaced with more pleasing substitutes?

there in the sound.pod. unpod the sound.pod and look for horn1.wav , horn-a.wav , and horn-f.wav. those are the three that the game plays.
to change them in your game make new sounds name them as one of them and make pod. then pod obove the sound.pod

Dang! I coulda SWORN I already did that, since it's the most obvious thing. So I never went back and tried it "again". Thanks!

Now I just gotta find some replacement WAVs. Maybe a nice semi-truck horn...

What would happen if you renamed all mal's files like this

horn-a.wav
horn-b.wav
horn-c.wav
horn-d.wav
horn-e.wav
horn-f.wav
horn-g.wav
horn-h.wav

I wonder if that would work.

I made instructions for beginners and also posted a bunch of appropriate sound files (for both horn and yee-haw replacement) at http://www.gameroom.com/clawfford/horn.html

(I stole your Horn5, Mal... it was a much better airhorn than the one I had)

U can play sounds in C-POD right out of a pod. Just double click on it and hit view (will say listen to in later versions)
And also i am working on makeing file insetrting functions since i already have ones for extracting.
I have a function for over writing a file in a pod but i have only implemented it for restoring a backed up tty from a [ST]ized track.
I have yet to make a function that inserts a new file.
THen i'm gonna make it so u can open a file from a pod in your fav editor and then change it and then save it and c-pod will update it automatically. Lik u r just editing it.
