first of all what a great idea, only you would have thought of doing such a thing lol..

I've run a bunch of tests in IE and NS and with every version of binedit I have but every one imports as a flat model, no Z dimension, depth?

Oops, you snuck in here before me. I wanted to show you something a little more tirular . ...Anyway...

Since we're playing with binedit, please indulge the long version of the story.

Several things odd with the ns pic
- line breaks after each input
- whole thing centered on the page
- the model is centered on y-axis but should be z-axis
- the model is flat

Two things about the ie pic
- page looks much better
- the model doesn't

At first I thought maybe it's the binedit version you're using. You have the exact two that I don't have.

1.02 which won't do a wavefront
1.04 beta (I never did get 1.03)

But when I opened your sample in mine, the result was the same. Back to the drawing board. Next I looked at the browsers. I know how attached you are to your 4.7. But, sure enough, IE does the same thing. I have.

Netscape 6.2.1
IE 6.0.2600

Then I made two files exactly the same. One in each browser to check what the difference was. Oops, identical. Exact same numbers. But one opens well, the other doesn't. It seems IE (and the older netscape) are tacking on extra spaces to the end of each line and that is interfering with a good binedit read. I've tried to compensate for this in the script and I think it's looking better now. Thankfully my ns didn't have this problem or I might have driven myself nuts trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.

The other thing to try would be for somebody to create a model using the original tiremaker and the online version and see how they compare. I know the original made three point faces, and that's how I designed mine. But while the bigfoot wheel and mine have the same number of verts, the faces are double. I have no idea if that's a good thing or not.

The only thing the online version does not do is give a choice of axes to rotate on. I might have tried but figured it was no big deal. One 90° rotate on the x- or y-axis and it's all the same anyway.

. . . next thing you'll tell me you don't see the buttons below the text area where you type for the forum. They were gone for me for a long while and I just got them back.

reasons thew asp versin is better

Great, thanks.

And btw, I find the viewer quick and works fine (in ie).
