CH_2005's C-Pod Utility

Post by SLO_COPE »

I recommended this to Demigod as an aid in laying out his checkpoints. LOL I've never used it since I've never made a track, but I saw Phin post a link to it while we were beta testing Rocketalces' "LaPaMa", as well as a thread CH started at KC's.

The question is, how do you use it? Is it made to interact with Traxx? It didn't come with any sort of instructional page, so he's kind of stumped.

Last I remember you browse to a pod and open it, then right click the sit file (or the track image)... or double click one of those...

> Is it made to interact with Traxx?

No.

I can't get it to run on my comp lately, even after an install. I thought I had this beat but apparently not. I get a path/file access error.

Anyway, if Demi can't get it working, have him send me his beta and I'll do a trackview shot for him. Trackview's release isn't far off but since the date is anything but carved in stone, he might not want to wait that long.

Yes it is.

But the current version doesn't show models (that's next). For muskoka it didn't really matter, but other tracks won't be so forgiving.

umm if u have an IM then i can closly work on it with you and that would be cool - i would love to get this proggy out of beta.

Another new utility  WoW.

I don't have a messaging program, but I'd really like to see your stuff continue to be developed. Let us know what you need.

Do you have netmeeting? I'd love to work on it with someone.
Or at least i should start that e-mail chain back up or maybe i should just put a thread on here. That would be best. I dont care who have beta versions of the program. It's open source anyhow.

OK i'll start a new thread on here - first i'm gonna do quite a bit of work on it and C-pod.ini cause i want them to work togather.
U guys have heard of c-pod.ini right?
I'm gona fire up visual basic tonight - thanx guys. All i needed was a little incentive.

> Do you have netmeeting?

I have nothing, sorry.

> I'd love to work on it with someone.

Several points here. I'm swamped. But you know what, I could probably learn a lot from a collaboration like this. I still don't know much about handling binary files and you seem to have that down pat. On the other hand, I haven't touched visual basic since I did the smurf thing last year. I'd have to relearn it all, all over again, so I don't know how much I could contribute. Still, it's a great opportunity. Then there's the expo. Then there's some perl pages I've been putting off. And binedit and trackview on top of those. All that said, I'm not going anywhere and there are many others around too.

> Or at least i should start that e-mail chain back up

You had an e-mail chain?

> or maybe i should just put a thread on here.

That's always a good idea.

> I dont care who have beta versions of the program. It's open source anyhow.

Open source is great, and sharing is even greater. You never know when an rbiii will come along and work in new things.

> first i'm gonna do quite a bit of work on it and C-pod.ini cause i want them to work togather. U guys have heard of c-pod.ini right?

Both those programs do an incredibly large number of things. However, since there was never an official page for them I don't think as many people know about them as maybe would be otherwise possible. Starting a thread here is a good start tho.

> All i needed was a little incentive.

When it comes to incentive, we're full of it. Let us know what you need.

I'm sorry, it's just not ready yet. I'm hopeful of a public release on the next build, but please don't hold me to that. There were a couple issues on the last one and OP is working on it in his spare time.
