bin2smf

Post by Guest »

Don't know if anyone is interested or even plays 4x4 Evo but I have written a utility that completly converts a bin to a smf model and does the texture mapping and palette reduction and what not, it currently supports mtm1 & 2 bins and maps upto 16 textures. if anyone is interested reply to this and I will post it..... also in the works a monster truck freestyle kind of game, if anyone would like to build trucks/tracks email me @ Jpezold@mail.win.org

Are you James? If yes, long time no see. If not, lol, okay.

Anyway, if it's a finished utility I'll see what I can do about posting it on a couple sites so you can link to it... if that's something that would help.

Now, with that out of the way, around here we usually go from smf to bin, rather than the other way around. It's the "only" thing we use zmodeler for.

And I don't know if you'd be interested but there have been several new utilities made for mtm lately, and several good ones are in development. If that would be of interest, we could bring you up to date farily quickly.. never know what ideas they might spark.

Hey, its James. I have tons of stuff written for MTM and Evo, such as.... pod compiler, decompiler. track editor, bin viewer. smfedit, smfviewer, bin2smf, and was thinking about finishing up a mtm2evo conversion program, but I like MTM better then evo so I coulld write a evo2mtm converter. also do you program? and if so would you be interested in a brand new monster truck game.

First off, I think it would be great if you just signed up on geocities and posted your programs. That way they'd be easily available and have a semi permanent place people could get them.

Secondly, I've dabbled with programming but haven't done anything seriously. If you've seen the Smurf untility in evo, that was mine.

Third, we got fooled on evo so new games are approached with huge amounts of hesitation, reluctance and skepticism. Nothing personal, but there's too few hours in a day to get side tracked off the beaten path around here. Also, because our game has matured over the years, we've come to expect some pretty high standards. Have you seen Guitar Bill's latest project?

Don't let this scare you off. There's always room for new things. I'm just telling it straight that we've developed into a tough audience who make large demands. It will take considerable effort to uproot us again. Once bitten, twice shy, eh?

Lastly, if you log in to the forum, your name will show up as the posting member. This forum is user friendly, and so shouldn't bite.

I'm sure all would appreciate useful utilities being made public.

Question on evo2mtm conversion utilities. Would it be compatable with 4x4evo2?

As for the new game you are trying to program, there is another person trying to program a new game.
HERE
Maybe you could contact him and team up on it or get ideas from each other... ect. . ect. .

As for track making for the new game... what would you like for it? Just tracks made in Traxx and you'll convert them to whatever? Or is there some special way you want them done?

If you want that, yes, go ahead and team up with me. If you use Microsoft Visual Basic .NET Standard Version 2002 (long name but hey, that's what it is), go ahead and send me the source files with what you want to do. That way, we can both work on it together. Or have you something else on your mind for it?

By the way, where can I get your track editor (if it's for MTM2)?
