Arial Shots of Terrain

Post by Kdawg »

How do you get arial shots of a track's terrain? I keep seeing alot of people use them to show errors, shortcuts ect, but don't know how to do it. Does it have something to do with gold mode? Thanks

Gold mode can do very good shots if you stay in cockpit view and raise the truck above the terrain and tilt it downward. Turning off the finder, speedometer, and display give a nice clean picture. Most of the pictures done for the detail popups on the download page were done that way.

However, you're probably referring to the one I just posted for desert 1. That was taken with the beta of the new trackview program. Oliver Pieper has been working on it for almost the past year, and it is nearing the stage for the first public release. But it's not quite there yet. There is no set release date because OP has been working on and off part time on it. ... and there's a possibility the first release will still have at least one known bug that is eluding detection. And, unfortunately, that's all I have for you at this time. Rest assured, tho, a release is imminent.

The 3rd snapshot was taken using gold mode as Phin mentioned. The problem with that method is that the whole track can't be seen unless it's a tiny track, or you stitch several shots together....
