"Can't environment map model" error

Probably a topic discussed at length in the forum, but I can't find it! A search on this error returns hundreds of hits, but none actually discuss this.

I'm getting this error message semi-randomly. It happens when the race is trying to start. Sometimes I'll get a few seconds of racing before the error.

Each time I have to exit completely and restart, or I'll get the error repeatedly.

Sometimes I'll get the error, exit, restart, and the same track and trucks run fine.

What's causing this?

Go to the graphic options in the game and turn off "truck reflections".
