JPG's

What do you guys have this set at? That is mine, and the quality for JPG's is excellent, but they are just huge, like around 240k.

When I upload a truck here, it always refuses my pic cuz of the size restriction, and it won't accept GIF's, so after I upload, I have to go to my "truck mod" page and then re-upload the pic, then it works, but it's still huge.

I still want my large pics to look good, and high quality, but I need to turn something down somewhere to get the file size down.

Just curious.

The dpi shouldn't matter since that's a printer setting.

Set compression to 8 and give it a try. 1 means uncompressed, that's why the file sizes are so large. They're almost like bmps.

8 to 12 will still leave them under a 100k. You'll start to notice quality loss if you compress much above that. It's usually better when there's a lot of color and detail. The plainer it is, the worse it gets.

Also, you don't have to redo them, if you have them uncompressed. Just open and resave and they'll save with the new compression. However, be warned, you can't go back. Once they're compressed, you can't uncompress them.
