Expo '05

Post by Mat-Allum »

I heard on the front page that we're having another Expo. I like that...

However, I am currently in progress of finding all the classic custom tracks I have ever made (and not released) and combining them, creating Mat-Allum's Classic Tracks volumes 1 and 2, which I would like to upload. However, I have been unable to find a location to upload submissions.

Please help me!

The closing date for the expo is August 31 2006. There is no uploader yet. The rules and details haven't even been established yet.

Actually, at this time, we're expecting an "open" type of event where there won't be any restrictions. Another idea would be to keep it all to mtm1 models and art. Nothing has been set in stone yet. So, if you have ideas and things, now would be a good time to speak up. I can't promise how anything will work out, but better to be heard now rather than after things begin to take shape.

How about people's old race tracks that were never released?

However, I must say that the MTM1 models and art idea sounds very intersting... I wonder what I could come up with using those restrictions!

I believe that as long as you made it, and it has never been made available to the public before, you can enter it.

Yes. However, this time we will have to stick with one entry per person. But a whole year should be plenty of time nobody needs to worry about old work or not enough opportunity.

Sounds good to me. It wasn't easy to come up with 3 unique trucks for the last one (but I had a hell of a lot of fun doing it!) 8)

So I suppose that track packs (one track file/nine or so tracks) wouldn't be allowed?

I guess if that was the case I'd upload either Hall of Mirrors or Lag but Fun, them being my best tracks to date (as I suppose).

HOM is named after, duh, the error, but you won't see it. There are lots of big jumps and a beginner at it WILL crash his first time on the track. LBF is a swervy track with some harder parts, which I created within a short time of the other one.

Well, you have over a year to go, so chances are you will have something new and improved by then.

I have an old school truck I am finishing that I considered saving for the Expo, but since I heard the event will conclude in 2006 instead of 2005, I doubt I will sit on it that long.

Personally I like it the way it was in '03. Just create a track and upload it. No special conditions, no fuss.

Actually, all but the first contest had requirements. For '03 it was make a track with a theme.

If we're honest with ourselves, that wasn't much of a restriction [;)]
But that's alright, we were being accomodating.

One thing that occurred to me after '03, could a judge be allowed to review and vote only in one category and compete in the other (ie. judging tracks and competing in trucks, or vice versa)? I found that in '03 I contributed muchly to trucks, but barely got around to touching tracks, still my own first-time track entry was restricted to exhibition only because of my involvement. Of course we might end up with the unlikely scenario of truck experts judging tracks and track supremos judging trucks but I think it's an idea :)

I'll judge, and all of that, but I'd like to be able to compete with the others, I just wont vote for myself.... I promise...

Kidding, I'll be a judge, last time was fun. We can do what we did last time, no biggie.

Maybe we should have the "track with theme" thing, still. It might not be much of a restriction, but there IS a sequel to Hogwarts Adventures springing up in my head right now (much better than the original, of course).

Exiting, you know,Iwas thinking ofadvanced track restrictions:
1.Tracks have to be like Zoon's Zoon Kitchen tracks
2.Have at least 1 animated model.

P.s Yes ,I'm Punk,I'm a member but when I try to log on it dosen't work.

I like animated track models myself (I made several for Zoon Kitchen-2), but I doubt the "must be like zoon kitchen" requirement would ever fly. I'd rather see what these talented track-makers can come up with themselves as far as track themes or concepts..
