Changing graphics resolutions

Post by ilovetrucks »

:? Hi folks.... I'm a newbie to this forum.. I'm setting up for my grandson MTM2. I've got all the latest upgrades, i.e. fixitpod, etc. and is there any way to change resolution from 640 x 480 to something a little more modern? My graphics card is FX5500 AGP. My computer is using windows98se. I know that MTM2 is old, but so is 640 x 480... I would like to go to 1024 x 768 or so... Any help would be appreciated....

Sorry, but 640x480 is the maximum resolution for mtm2.

Resolution is limited to 640x480 but you can use the power of your graphic card to dramatically improve the quality:

if not already done, activate Anti-aliasing (4x, even 8x if the game still runs smoothly) and anisotropic filtering (8x). These adjustments need to be made in your graphic cards settings, not in the MTM2 in-game graphics settings.

The result is astounding. When seeing the game with these settings on a CR monitor, most people will think it runs at a higher resolution. It looks really good.

On a TFT Monitor its a different story. AA and AF do improve the picture as well, but the upscaling of 640x480 to the physical resolution of the screen, e.g. 1024x768, causes often noticeable distortions. Displayed text looks especially awful.

of this im suprised because usually with 640 x 480, its such a low res that even anti aliasing cant do anything but blur the image.

If you really want a higher res, you can always use windowed mode, and have mtm run as a floating window on your screen, but then you wont have direct 3D. so its kind of a trade off.

It might be posible, and i wouldnt be suprised if there is a fan made patch out there that increases the resolution
