I need some help

Post by oldiron »

okay, I'm trying to download some new trucks. But I'm having trouble.

so my questions:
where do I save the trucks to?
How do I save the trucks to that spot?
What steps are after that?

please be detailed. i'm still new at this downloading stuff (haven't played the game in years.)

thanks in advance.

I'm sorry i'm still having trouble.

I don't have that program. i'm trying to use this advice here:
http://www.gameroom.com/clawfford/addons.html

but i'm lost. I downloaded the selected trucks, but aren't sure what to do after that. do I save them in the monster truck maddness 2 folder or make a new subfolder in the file? how do I unzip the trucks and turn them into pods?

Save them to your main MTM2 folder. To unzip them, use WinZip. You can download a free trial of it on that page. The ZIP file has the POD file inside it. Extract the POD files to you main MTM2 folder, using WinZip. Then, in the main MTM2 folder, find a file called POD.INI and open it in NotePad. Scroll to the bottom, and type the name of the POD you just extracted underneath the last name in the POD.INI. Then add 1 to the number at the top and save the file. Then you can use the truck in the game.

I hope I haven't made it too complicated. :)

Just put the Patch in your main MTM2 folder, then double-click on the Patch file(Mtm2pat.exe) to install it. That's it, you're patched.

Here's another good tutorial on using add-ons.

It's telling me it can't find an existing installation of MTM2, when it's in the MTM2 folder.

I installed the game properly, but it's on an external drive, which I'm using on a different PC now. I guess I should re-install.

extract the needed registry entries, and store the reg file on your external drive. then when you change computers, just run the .reg file.

okay one last question:

there's two tracks I'm trying to get Slickster's NSP OKC tracks. Problem is this,:
both are podded correctly.
however, when I play the game only the first one in the list appear. The second one doesn't.

an example:
04OKC.pod
03OKC.pod

both are podded the way. properly and SHOULD play. But the first one just appears twice. So instead of the 04 and 03 tracks, I now have the 04 track listed twice.

any advice?

There is a name conflict. To solve it, mount one track at a time.

When two track file names are the same MTM2 reads and runs only the first on the list within the pod.ini, the game cannot differentiate between the two.

MTM2 only reads 8 characters deep...

NSP Oklahoma City 2003
NSP Oklahoma City 2004

The game reads those two tracks as being the same. If you move one track above the other on the pod.ini list the one highest will run.
