Anybody know the last good geforce drivers for our game, and where they might be found? I still have geforce 2 and 3 but can't locate any driver files - I'm prepping for a OS reinstall and I'm trying to gather everything together before taking the plunge. Thanks.
Currently, I have v 5.2.1.6 10/6/03 installed.
[ edit ] Found the drivers. Just need a version number now. Current is 93.71 but I'm sure that's no good for mtm, but I suspect there's something newer than 5216 too.

Browse next page and it will take you passed the forceware and back to the detonator days.
Just that you have to work which one is which.
Forceware from last year and backwards were universally for all the cards up until a point. Don't remember much about the detonator and how they worked.

I have 93.71 and have no problems with it (except the 0.5sec freeze which happens randomly but i do not know if it's driver related or something else).
But i also have a different card so it might react differently with what you have.
Up until 93.71 the driver package was "all-in-one" except GF 8800 and the likes. After 93.71 the package was split for each card generation.

I'm on 93.71 too (GeForce 6800GT) and no probs with MTM2 (the only graphics problem is a global problem affecting all games, that fortunately I can bypass with a setting change - it's possibly due to a hardware conflict).
My other comp (4400Ti) is on either 81.98 or 84.21, and no problems with MTM2 for that either...
If I was to go back through my archive CDs I could tell you all the versions I've ever used, I don't actually recall any problems with any version where MTM2 was concerned...
Can only be good I suppose, having targetted packages instead of all-of-one should make the download smaller, which I'd definitely appreciate

Did they really? After all those years of moving toward an all-in-one driver (unified driver architecture as they called it)?Fila wrote:After 93.71 the package was split for each card generation.

Yes. I don't know about the older cards but Geforce 7 family and Geforce 8 family have different forceware drivers now. Nvidia, on their site, says that the new GF 7 drivers are compatible with the older ones (GF 3 and 4) but users have posted on the forums that they cannot install the drivers because their cards are not recognized.
The all-in-one idea was sure great back then but it was obvious a time will be reached where the idea has to be scrapped or at least have the driver packages split differently for older cards and newer cards.

That wasn't exactly what I was looking for but I think we're getting closer, thanks.Fila wrote:Nvidia, on their site, says that the new GF 7 drivers are compatible with the older ones (GF 3 and 4) but users have posted on the forums that they cannot install the drivers because their cards are not recognized.
Yes but the newest drivers that aren't compatible are 94.XX
So theoretically, out of my own experience everything under 94.XX works well with MTM2. (and 93.71 works with GF 3 and 4).
But that is from my own experience as i remember Mudd or someone from SLO having troubles with some of the drivers and MTM2 and had to resort back to the 80 series.
Personally i never had any problems.
