Phin, how big is the track database on mtm2.com?
Was considering backing it up as well just in case ;)

It's one megabyte. I back it up every day on the server and it automatically ftp's to three other servers (soon to be a fourth). So the database isn't really a concern. In fact, the database was good and that's how we knew what tracks were missing. I just made a script to compare the database to the hard drive and voila.
If you plan on backing up the tracks themselves, it uses just over four gigabytes. Trucks use just over one gigabyte. In fact, I'm downloading both now as we type. I'm also planning to back up the entire site, tracks and all, to another server, maybe two.
I don't know your connection speed, but if you want a disk I can send one via snail mail for you.

I have the 2000 expo dvd (i think it was 2000) so i take it i have about half of them already
(only if i would have it with me to see where the db ends exactly).
Since it's only over 4gb it ain't so bad. I have enough space to save 4gb.
I have 6mbps connection now so i can download them easily. It's just that i have to add each track manually to download which will kill me.

Nope, you don't. Download the iso and burn to disk.Fila wrote: i have to add each track manually to download which will kill me.

However! you might like to hold off a couple days until I check that everything is okay. The updated operating system is a bit different than the old and I'm not confident with the iso file integrity yet.

heck id gladdly help too if need be, even if it was just an simple zip file of every track and truck, 5 gigs wouldn't take too long for me to download, problem is if you ever needed it, it would take ages to get back, and 60 kbps it would take days... and I couldn't possibly backup regularly cause of my 60 gig bandwidth restriction on my net.
