I am confused.

Post by Roadknight »

Looking back at old trucks there are plenty that were uploaded in 1998 between January to April, these have MTM2 pieces.
MTM2 wasn't released until 30th April 1998, I would appreciate if someone could explain this please.

Thank you.

Either from the "beta" version of mtm2, or from mtm1.

Remember, Binedit was originally made for mtm1.

See http://mtm2.com/~truckorama/ for more.

I think a more likely scenario for some of those trucks is that there was an error (feature :D ) in the database that caused these trucks to be shown as being uploaded at a much earlier date than when they were uploaded uploaded. I know for a fact the concept of a "fiberglass" truck in MTM2 wasn't come up with right away, and yet there's supposedly a replica of Taurus by MadMax (who I'm pretty sure wasn't editing when the game came out) that features a fiberglass body.

There's no mistake in the database. All dates are based on original release dates and later confirmed by the original file date (before podzipping). If you look at kingdave's truck o rama you can see just what sort of work people were doing well before mtm2.

Same thing goes for tracks

A possible answer for trucks like that is they were originally made for the "beta" version of Monster Truck Madness 2. If your truck is set to use the default axles are example the pod creator won't bother adding it to the pod because the game has it installed anyway.
Perhaps Phineus found trucks this, and because the beta axle file wasn't in the pod, he replaced them with the axle from the final game at a later date.

I have recently been downloading tracks and trucks from 1998/1999 and when I right-click on the pod and click on "properties" it says the pod was created in 2004. This is what confused me.

Can the podzip utility tell me when the pod was original created before it was podziped by Phineus or someone else?
