ip question

Post by Bigfoot_Power_Wheels »

im trying to play my kid brother thru rengames, we have mtm on two seperate computers. however it isnt recognizing my game when he tries to join. it may be an error i cant figure out, but suspect it is the fact we're trying to host and join with the same ip address. when we try to ip in, we cant recognize each others games

is there a way to go around this problem, or is it even related to the ip adresses?

If you are on the same router, then I don't think you can both play online. There is an ip sharing program out there someplace but I couldn't get it to work.

You can, however, play each other using the 'local' ip address of each computer.

Electric_bug's old router used to be able to do it, I don't know how, but it worked lol.

Just get a small 5 port SWITCH and plug it into the Output from the Router.

That creates 5 network ports available from the output of the Router.

Plug in each computer into a port on the switch, and wah-lah.

that doesn't actually change anything lol, cause MTM2 is refersning your public IP, which belongs to two instances of the game running, so it will be forwarded on first come first served or on whichever the port is being forwarded too.

Replace your router with a switch :). Most ISP's give you at least 2 IP addresses. When i want to play with mulitple computers on mtm2, I just neede dto switch off my Router and make it become a switch (it has strange options lol)
