I'm looking for a freeware, easy to use, back up program. I don't want proprietary formats. A straight up mirror would be fine, or zip in a pinch, from one drive to another, or a network location, or multiple locations - ftp not necessary. Ideally, it could be activated with a single click. Yeah, I could just use a batch copy but I'd rather not over write anything that doesn't need it. Keep the grunt to a minimum. I'm on xp.
I checked out this

... but find I'm no further ahead. Just lots of talk and name dropping.
Thanks.
Backup programs?
To backup a single file, or a collection of files? Cause I designed a backup program. But it could only backup single files (like DB files) and it automatically kept a number of backups for history, incase you needed to go back in time.
If you need more than one file, then perhaps try MS Sync Toy

By default, Sync Toy won't overwrite a file that does not require updating. I use it all the time to sync my work laptop to my work desktop. I just run it the night before a business trip.
