MTM2 on XP in VirtualBox on a Mac...

Post by Cale »

...because I had to wipe my MacBook's HDD after El Capitan decided to screw it over, and, dammit, something good was going to come out of it.

The good news is, it works! The bad news is, it doesn't work the way I want! In software mode, the game runs very smoothly, but, as you'd expect, looks like hell and only takes up 1/4 of the screen. D3D won't work (No graphics card detected) because VirtualBox's DirectX emulation is mediocre at best. nGlide installs and the game lets you choose 3dfx, but either there's an access violation when the race loads, or the race loading screen doesn't come up at all. If anyone has any thoughts on how to fix that, please share...

Ugh. I have zero experience with doing this on a mac virtualbox. Lemme ask someone on the teamslo forum, I think he was doing the nglide thing on the mac but I'm not certain.

This is what I got:
Yes, Fila, I ran it in a Windows 7 vm using Parallels 7 at the time, and used nglide. Ran full screen, and at 2560 x 1440 resolution. Looked great, and got right around 220 - 250 fps. Even ran that program you linked to lower the framerate for racing.
BulletBert, he also ran an older Mac with Win 7 running inside a VMWare vm with no problems

I'll try Win 7 then, must be an issue with XP?

Or maybe it's the vm you are using? They mention Parallels 7 and VMWare but not Virtualbox.
